Hello guys, I don't have an XTC cooler here with me, but it looks like you would need about 1 3/4" clearance above the ram slots or 3/4" above a module with no heatspreader to fit this baby in. I also don't have a Big Racoon or whatever that is to check clearances. The unit will move side to side as the bracket has a large slot, but if you are using the orange memory slots, they are closest to the CPU cooler so you won't gain much. I'd say it would be a no-go.
thanks a ton for the response Andy. I am guessing it is a no go too unfortunately. Perhaps on another platform, but not on the Ultra-D.

I would duct that bottom 4th of that cpu fan over the ram. Will cool the ram with no extra fans, and probably wont raise the cpu temps too much from what you have already.

Just make sure you have about 1 3/4" vertical clearance above all memory slots and it should work for you.Originally Posted by Elisha

Hi I just happened to pick one of these up only because it was super cheap. I've got a digital IR thermometer so I thought I'd post some rough numbers.
Test system: Opteron 175 @ 2.6ghz, DFI UT-d, g.skill 2x512 PC4800, each memory chip mounted with a copper heatsink, 2.8v, Tuniq Tower 120, open frame bench.
With no cooling on the RAM, under orthos blend load, the RAM heatsinks would hit 34c.
With the OCZ product at full speed, the RAM heatsinks achieved 30c.
With an angled standard 80mm fan blowing across the RAM slots, heatsinks achieved 28c.
Regarding sound, I find even at full load, they are okay, but I'm pretty deaf. Noticeable but not loud. But definitely louder than my 80mm fan.
Not a personal big fan of blue LEDs.
Installation and quality are totally top notch!

thanks a ton for the mini review. I am glad for the price it is at least doing something over having nothing, even if the 80mm is better.
BTW, which exact model of Vantec Nexus fan controller is that?
Would you happen to have a picture of the XTC cooler installed on the board with the tuniq? Any issues getting it to fit?

The XTC unit goes on no problems with the tuniq.
The fan controller is a vantec nxp-201, but the LED cluster was added by me.

Nice system? What kind or rack is that?
60mm fan of your choice + thin bead of "household goop glue" = better cooling and much cheaper!

Just fitted my ocz xtc memory cooler.Fits a lot better than I thought ,nice solid feel not as loose as some have said.Yes its not quite but far from noisy imo.I have not voltage control over it at the moment so it's running at 3790rpm it's plugged in to the Pwr Fan conection.
I have a freezer pro 7 cpu hsf and it just fits.

yea, i just tried it yesterday. it doesn't really fit. the mem cooler is real close to the infinity and makes the fan sit too high. i can't close the side door on my case. because the fan sits a couple inches above the infinity. i'm probably going to put a higher cfm/pressure fan on the other side of inifinity, then it will fit fine.Originally Posted by Elisha
as an additional note , i installed this cooler in the case, and it was wobbly like people have described. but i took the mobo out, and used the tabs with the notches and locked them down while it was on my desk, and now it feels like its welded to the board. doesn't move at all.

These look great, but I got a 60mm fan and it works fine as well. What is the difference with this product and Corsair's?

I'm pretty disappointed with the OCZ XTC...
The fans are rather loud for the dismal amount of air they push
mounting sucks
the LEDs are like 4 bright eyes on each fan that glare at you

is there any point to use these if your ram comes with heatsinks attached? does this work with xm2 ddr2 800 corsair?
If I mounted it right..which from reading these posts I have the mounting on this thing is a joke. I don't feel comfortable using it if I have to move my system at all.

You have to do some testing and try the different brackets. I had to futz with mine a bit, but in the end it fit nice ajnd snug on a budget Chaintech board. Memory clips vary allot and that's why there is not one set way to mount it.Originally Posted by Halvie

itznfb, how are you installing it? Are you just sliding the clip on? I have tried both clips on my p5b-d and it feels wobbly either way.

i'll have to take some pictures... mainly you want to make sure the beveled edges are flush with base unit. i'm taking my system apart today to custom mount my infinity, so i'll take some pics.
edit: here are some pics. sorry about the poor lighting.
