K booted, reset bios, set memory voltage to 2.2 for my OCZ ram. rebooted fine... overclocked E6600 @3600 (1600/800) upped CPU votage to 1.4 , rebooted , bios reported 1.39. Set Bios voltage to 1.4125 , rebooted bios reports 1.4 volts woohooooo, upped to 1.4250 rebooted Bios reads out 1.41, Orthossing now at 3600Mhz at 1.41 volts. Survived already 35minutes now, more testing tomorrow stability wise.

For me this seems great at first view

not to poo poo this bios...but arent the voltages still locked to 1.4 between 1333 and 1600fsb and
1.5 over 1600fsb? i'm not changing bios til those voltage locks are gone.
what happens with voltage at 1601 fsb? with 1002?

can you set 1.425 v and get 1.425v or 1.535v and get 1.535v? for example
also havent seen 1002 on asus website...

Running 1600 ( so 400FSB) before it was locked at 1.39, now I set 1.4 to try got 1.39 sort off. I need 1.40-1.41 to get my E6600 stable under load... so I set 1.4250 in bios and get 1.41 under bios, 1.41 in Probe and ran Orthos for over 3 hours steady, will test some more today but for me this is the one !!!

For fun set it at 1.4500 was 1.44 in bios and probe, so it seems pretty goooooood. Havent tried anything higher than 400FSB as I'm pretty pleased with that... But the VCore isn't locked anymore !!

Ok i tried this bios out and its a complete disaster for the QX6700...
Never again will I waste my time trying out a prelease bios.

Went back to 0901 and all is rock solid again folding at 4.1 with low volts.

I may be the exception and others may have better luck but if your using a quad dont waste your time.

What exactly is the problem? There is not much difference between 901 and 1002, pretty much only vCore fix. Were you running your QX6700 @ 410x10 with 0901 BIOS? If so, then keep in mind that above 400MHz, your vCore was locked at 1.50v, in case you have selected in BIOS any voltage from 1.400-1.575v range. With 1002, you will have to make proper adjustments.

Can you explain a bit more what's happening?

Well I cant' comment on quad cores but some users also had some issues ,
1) plz do not flash this bios from within windows !! After flash plz reset the bios so all previous settings are gone !!
2) also you have to set all the correct voltages now !! Take your time when tweaking , don't up it all at once to what you had it at before

For my E6600 it's fab, I can run same speeds (3600) with correct voltage now ( instead of 1.55) so lowered my temps, plus I'm running chipset voltages lower than before, meaning less heat and hopefully more durable in the long run.
This weekend lanparty will see if it survives

I hope you know there is a big problem me and some people are discussing on the ASUS striker extreme forums. This problem is that when people use MyLogo, it will kill your motherboard and it has happened to 2 people already.

so DO NOT USE MYLOGO CUZ IT WILL KILL YOUR MOTHERBOARD!!!

is there anyway Bachus you can communicate this to ASUS?

i had to remove the battery after i've flashed my mobo with this bios..couldn't do post..stopped at det ram and power cycling forever

What exactly is the problem? There is not much difference between 901 and 1002, pretty much only vCore fix. Were you running your QX6700 @ 410x10 with 0901 BIOS? If so, then keep in mind that above 400MHz, your vCore was locked at 1.50v, in case you have selected in BIOS any voltage from 1.400-1.575v range. With 1002, you will have to make proper adjustments.

The biggest problem is that it is generally unstable above 4.3 where on 0901 it was relatively stable.

Its also unstable at diffrent high end multis where as before it wasnt.

Last this applies to all 680i mobos but im just stating it here to clarify the 680i mobos dont work well with higher FSB in fact for me at least the highest FSB i have been able to use is 1400/4 = 350...



Note these same settings were solid on the 0901 bios...im still tweaking but so far in a head to head its not performing as well or as stable.

the fact that 1002 seesm to have better voltage control makes me wanna try it...but its not on asus website yet.....

i just lapped my cpu and nb sink and changed to as5 (vs ceramique) i got about 3-4 c better...changing to higher speed fan on tuniq makes no difference ive found.


i think high fsbs are hindered by heat with 680i....i was able to get higher fsb from lowering voltage on nb to 1.4 set in bios.

I tried out the 1002 bios and its working wonders for me so far. Much better voltage control. I'm having some mem problems but not any different than any other bios revision i've had.

I actually updated this bios from within windows and it didn't mess up. Maybe i'm just lucky.

i decided to flash this; i did it with a floppy.

it does unlock cpu voltages....i set 1.51xxv in bios and get 1.48v idle with hardware monitor (for example)

1.5v set = 1.47v monitor
1.49xx set = 1.47v mon.
1.58xx set = 1.55v monitor.

anyway...i had to bring my mem speed down a bit to maintain my same cpu oc...but i have now lowered my cpu voltage a little from 1.5 to 1.46v

have no other comments until ive used the puter for a while

ive come down from 3.66 to 3.6 stable while keeping as high a ram setting as possible....so as far as oc goes it's not an improvement...but good if u want more voltage control below 1.6v

i have now flashed 0402.
thnx for the link; i couldn't find 0402 when i googled.
...yep more droop in 0402, but i like it better; 0402 boots quicker than 1002 at same settings...so sticking with 0402 for now; also i can get the same overclocks with less voltage with 0402

lol opposite here needed 1.42 to get the E6600 Orthos Stable (ASus probe) now it only needs 1.40 to survive a full run, I also adapted my chipset settings to what EVA2000 uses, only slightly higher on the NB (1.5 instead of 1.4), 1.2 , SB and Vcore VTT are lower.... , also I don't get so much fluctuation in the latter while on 0402 it was making weird jumps...

Also can you boot at 450Mhz I had a hole there now the hole for me is gone and is perfectly bootable, previously I had to boot at 453Mhz to get it going there...

seems some boards react differently... pretty happy camper now
