For starters, post the codes of all the ICs (integrated circuits; small black rectangles) with 8 or more legs.

If you can, pictures of the card are nice too.

Also, I would recommend you google "7600GS volt mod", just to get familiar with volt modding and your particular card.

    I found the IC codes:
    LM 358 2AGJC
    APW7120 G18X3
    APW7120 G18X3
I don't know if that are the IC's but that is writed on "the things with 8 legs"

    Ah, excellent.

On both the APW7120, solder a 20,000 ohm variable resistor between pin 6 and ground.

For voltage readpoints, check the legs of capacitors (cylinder things). Stick the black probe from your multimeter into a black ground wire from a molex plug to make it easier.

Default voltage should be around 1.3 for Vgpu and around 1.9 for Vmem.

If your card has the same APW7120 chip(s), the mod is the same.

If it doesn't, post the IC codes/front and back pictures of the card.

a picture of your card would be useful.
but, by the names of the voltage controllers (apw7120), i guess my mod will help you

Mod is just 20k trimmer between pin 6 and ground for APW7120. Since you have two chips, do the same mod for both Vgpu and Vmem.

Is there something else you are not sure about? Don't hesitate to ask.

Default voltage should be around 1.3 for Vgpu and around 1.9 for Vmem.

For the actual mod, you got it right; solder a 20k variable resistor between ground and the 6th pin. I like to use a convenient ground point when I do my mods. Sometimes it is a molex, sometimes a monitor plug ground point, etc. You can even use the case itself if you want too.

    boo

    hi to all xtremists

i have a question ,on my 7600 gt from expertvision/palit(not the sonic version ,i think, pcb is different),on the back of the board there are two apw 7065 ics ,im pretty sure these are the chips i have to mod ,but i dont wanna burn anything ,so the question is ,is it the same as with the apw 7021 ics ,two 20 kohm resistors between pin 6 and ground ??,from what i found on the net the pinouts are the same .I also found a picture on a site ,unfortunately i dont understand the language, with a board like mine and some voltmod markings ,but nothing more .
If anyone could edit a photo in paint to show me how to measure the current voltages ,i would apreciate a lot .iI tried capacitor leg and molex black wire and the result is 0,2 v ,i must be doing it wrong

ill upload the photo tonight (now im at work )

LE:the pcb looks pretty much the same as the one of the 7600 gs above
