    Steve,

According to the manual you can just boot with the Asus CD that came with the motherboard in case your bios might corrupt.

It should revert to the stock bios.

Did anyone try to run 4:5 with FSB running at 400MHz with this new bios?

Yeah, I take full responsibility for my actions. I'm not as stable as I was anymore, and can't even do 385x9 with 1.60 stablely, but I went down to 380x9 and ran my 3dmark and while I got a slightly marginally lower CPU score, my shader model 2 and 3 scores went up..

Gonna try 4:5 mem to see if I can get it stable, then make a determination if I will stay or go back down. I don't mind being slightly clocked lower since my performance is up.

Okay, I'm at 4:5 with 380fsb and 950mem, and I got better performance all the way around.. Granted, I'm only looking at 3dmark06 breakdowns, since I never took number readings from superpi, so my apologies for that.

    When I was at 1:1 385x9 4-4-4-12 28-6 (bios 1707), i got: 11360 3dmarks (4970 sm2, 5036 sm3, 2991 cpu).

I wasn't stable at 385x9 with same timings on mb 1901, so went down to 380x9 and did same 1:1 tests. GPU drivers have not changed, and got 11638 3dmarks (5156 sm2, 5182 sm3, 2979 cpu).

    Now I did 4:5, 380x9 mem at 950 4-4-4-12 28-6 (1901 bios), i got: 11693 3dmarks (5150 sm2, 5179 sm3, 3047 cpu).

Marginal? Sure, but I think I'm going to stick with this bios and 4:5.. At least until people show us some superpi numbers showing which is the computational right way to go.

    Let the comparison matrix's come!

1901 are now official, already posted on their website.
i can do better overclocking with bios 1804 than any other bios.
i've done 465x7 with my e6300 without mod.
    1901 is a crap.

Just ordered a new chip from BiosMan. My board does not boot at all. Completely dead. So much for the bios protection.

Hey bichi, speaking of limp wristed hayseeds. 2 questions 1st. If you just got the bios and gave it a quick try, why did you change your sig so fast to reflect the new bios. 2nd if you are not hayseed why did you not change your sig back if you really did revert back to 1707. Huh? Huh?

I went to 1901, then reverted back to 1707 because you guys gave me a scare. But it didn't really seem that bad.

1901 seems atleast as stable as 1707 for me so far. Orthos tests tonight so that's when I'll be able to see any real differences if any..

I upgraded coz I believe it probably also has some improvements for Vista again which I'm moving to soon

I'm still on 701. I haven't seen a need to upgrade till now. I *may* give it a go using 1901

    Just read the first post:

"lawrywild's current recommended BIOS version: 1707"

Although I believe there's no perfect BIOS version. Best to read the whole thread to found the better match according to your needs.

Yep, but thanks for info on setting up a safety net for next time, since I'm back to 1707. I'd never bothered with AFUDOS due to USB updates going so well. Now at least I know I can try again with the next released BIOS and worry less about trying it out...

An update to my OC decrease:

I tried a different PSU that I had here and I got the same results. So I went to Fry's and picked up an eVGA 680i board and just got it all hooked up. My overclocking is back! There is definitely something wrong with the board. I guess I will RMA it and sell it. I removed the covers off of both the heatsinks, anyone know if Asus will refuse the RMA because of this?

Well, I guess it's time to put everything back inside the case. Thanks for all the help everyone.
