    Hey again, guys.

I applied silicone to the coil thing a few days ago, and apparently it hasn't helped; I can still hear the squeal/buzz. Should I try to coat the other coil thing closer to the CPU? The sound is getting slightly annoying when I have to work in the same roo m and not have music on.

I think ill get the GT, as it's way better clock for clock, and it also handles 4:5 really well. Aslo it's $20 cheaper.

Yeah, odds are it happens with different or multiple coils for everyone, because they are all the same coils, so it's probably random which one makes the buzzing noise.

I'm leaning that way as well. Plus the QuadGT has a 1067 strap option that helps ALOT according to AnandTech. But the buggy BIOS will stop me for now. Both of these boards need new BIOS before I consider either. No more waiting on a new BIOS before i can be stable like with my S3.

I'm in the same train with u. Even though i'm really happy with my P5B (at least with my oc'ed settings), i have it since its release and i'm getting a bit bored.
I'll definitely stay on 965, so i was considering either Commando or QuadGT leaning towards QuadGT for 1066 strap but i wouldn't like getting a m/b and wait for a bios...

FSB rises quite linear when you put higher MCH.
This is on BIOS 0803, haven't tested earlier versions.

    2.025v vmch to reach 535mhz @ 1:1?
My P5B with 1.65v max can reach 525mhz and a friend of mine with a commando reaches 530mhz with lower than 1.7v (can't remember exactly).

If it does better with same cooling on another board yes but i do think every unmodded 965 board wil do 550/60 at least if cpu can handle it. I bet it wil do higher if cpu is colder on this board.

I think 550/560 is a bit on the high side. I would say 520-540.

im thinking the same way, on one hand its awesome to have 1t and 1066 performance on a 965 board but on the other it sucks that a $200 board comes with a bios that most would consider alpha at best.

Still not enough information to know which board works best with a QX6700 yet for me to make my decision.

The commando is probably the front runner at the moment, but all other contenders are still so new that their BIOS' havent yet matured to give the QX6700 a fair go.

    And DFI's 965 still doesn't have a release date

I think it's the board too bro. My first commando max out at 535 with 1.7v set in bios (didnt try any higher). However, the 2nd commando can do 550 with 1.67v set in bios. So i think you need 2.025v just to get 525 is the board not cpu.

    vcore 1.53v
    nb 1.67v
    vdimm 2.45v

I was in the same boat as you two but i decided to go with the commando when i started seeing people having issues running over ddr1100 on the quadgt and the ide issues didnt win me over.

I may buy the board later on but i'll wait and see if abit decides to support it or leave it in the wind like the aw9d-max.

I have tried 480FSB, 4:5, seems my rams hold me back, it is not stable at DDR1200, even at 2:3

raise up the some of the voltages can help doing 480FSB, 4:5!

    Some Allendale action:
V_NB @ max, unfortunately I think that NB had just hmm... degraded after that, not stable @ 400 FSB 1,25V @ NB, my 24/7; before it was Orthos stable 13h+ on these settings . The temperature was OK, about 10 degrees lower on 2,025V @ NB than without addidtional cooling (Winter Cooling + some fans) in my 24/7 conditions.

Tried almost every possible combination regarding voltages, mem can do 610 mhz, cpu 580 fsb but max for me is 453 for 4/5. With unmodded P5B that is. Commando is doin good.
