We are looking at having a 2" diameter cylinder of copper milled to our specifications for Direct Die cooling.
Most of what has been built was to get the LN2 on the chip and see what was going to happen at -196C
we had two 12" copper tubes some couplings and a few P4 boxed coolers laying around so we put them to good use. The copper cylinder in the P4 Boxed cooler just

You should just go to the pro's, call up kingpin, mickeymouse, or gorrilakos and get the best 3" tubes ever made from any of them...

Also, why do you have an AMD chip with the IHS pulled?

And BTW, the IHS on all intel chips sucks, not just the ES ones.

Intel ES just happen to have some of the worst mounts around :P

When i get a lil more time this week ill see if Kingpin could loan us some of his knowledge his name was first in my mind when I began this project.

We pulled the IHS off the Opty for testing on a swifttec Rev 1 Storm.

The problem is that the real 8GHz news was weeks ago and it won't be the same again. Furthermore, it's no good idea to say that you're gonna break 8GHz, but then there are no results yet. I'm not saying that you are not going to make it, but just saying that you should have results before posting things like that.

Get a single core Prescott drop in about 1.7-1.9v and remove the IHS. you should be able to hit 7Ghz without even trying but with some tweaking 8Ghz shouldn't be too hard with liquid Helium

right. 1.7v should be no problem for a prescott with that type of cooling.

hell, i got mine to 4.35Ghz on 1.7V and watercooling and that was Superpi 1m stable. Definitely get more vcore into that sucker.

No way it's that easy I've gotten to 6xxx on a p4 650 @ -100+C, 1.75 but there was not a chance that the cpu could even come close to 7xxx even on LN2. Pressies suck

Your either on the pipe again or something but its no where near that easy. Much less to oc to that, but to use LHe is hard.

Doesn't seem like to big a deal. If someone posts and doesn't come through then they just fade away never to return. It looks as though they are making the attempt which is more than I can say for the skeptics.

Besides that, everyone likes pics of the process and sometimes the play by play. Kind of a new approach and in turn proves that they made the attempt and it will probably help out anyone else in here gutsy enough to try it.

Let's see what he comes up with and critique his results and methods rather than the posts.

second thing, you should first DO this result with screen and validation, then open the 3d; when i posted the 7,5ghz@1,6V anyone asked me for the 8ghz, but i NEVER said that i was sure of this

and even if you reach this record remember that our cpu is very different from yours, i don't have unlocked molty or anything else, a simple cpu bought from ebay still close; and be sure, we have an Asus Commando full modded (2,1V on the cpu), and the 8ghz barrier will fall.

lol we just got our commando in last night
id like to compare Vdroop results with you some time this week, we found some interesting things and would like to know if anyone else can replicate our outcome.

We hit ~7 in bios but condensation killed the chip (631 ES) and Motherboard (P5B Deluxe)
Luckily we have another (ES) chip to work with.

I’ve been spending a lot of time at a ManFab working with their lead engineer on a LN2 pot and other blocks so I haven’t had enough time to put up more pics and results. We will get back to overclocking by Friday.

Just thought id update everyone about today. It was indeed a sad day for all of us here at Team NexGen, Ok well maybe for me. While waiting for our P5B to come in I decided to see how my EVGA 680i would benchmark with the 631, 2GB D9GMH, 4x 250GB SATA raid, 8800GTX and E6400 C2D. With our current project at hand I hadn't the time for building my system. It had been quite some time since my fingers were pouncing about W,A,S,D, A mist the downtime today i chose to complete my system. Working with pure devotion and feverish perfection I eagerly awaited to feel the power button click before my for finger!
In an instant the case was filled with brilliant lights, shadows, the hum generated by a plethora of miniature wind turbines, nothing was more invigorating than the witnessing the birth of my creation! The stench of death filled my nostrils as i realized the brilliant light show was actually a vreg powered sparkler, as i jumped for the wall plug i knew it was frivolous action.
my heart sank low into my stomach as i realized my creations life was as short lived as my faith in EVGA.

to cut things short the two vregs north west of the CPU exploded into a shower of sparks and sizzles ending is an eerie smoke filled sight.

Everything was at the "stock" bios voltage shipped with the board. The board didn't even make it into the Bios!

i'm sure that it must have been a pretty sight
