Hmmmm very interesting. Koolance cooling is plenty capable of 4GHz, but at some point the blocks can't transfer heat fast enough.

i can get a 631 up to 5.3ghz on air cooling.. so heat definitely shouldn't be that much of an issue with water...![]()

Our experience with ES chips leads me to believe that the IHS mounting process isn't perfected until around the production of the Retail chip. If your lucky the thermal resistance on your ES should not be as bad as ours. As this is the worst case we have come across to date.Originally Posted by ozzimark

we had two 12" copper tubes some couplings and a few P4 boxed coolers laying around so we put them to good use. The copper cylinder in the P4 Boxed cooler just happens to be the right sice for direct Die cooling with a LGA775 socket.

For NON OC testing it worked rather well considering it cost us absolutely no $$$$ to make thanks to Intel!

Also, why do you have an AMD chip with the IHS pulled?
And BTW, the IHS on all intel chips sucks, not just the ES ones.

We pulled the IHS off the Opty for testing on a swifttec Rev 1 Storm.

if u veel hot with 1.4vcore u should give a run @ 2vcore , it seems u guys have te hard-ware and the helpings hand .
but if i have to say what i think i dont see this happen really , thouge i wish u guys the best off luck![]()
