either Newegg has pricing problems or Zip zoom is behind the gun.

The only reason I have been looking for S939 X2 3800 was because I have around 9 sticks of 512ram DDR P9200 and three S939 motherboards that are capable of accepting X2 3800 with a BIOS flash. For me at least, it seemed a relatively inexpensive way to make dual-core rigs and put them on WCG.

Past 2 months, I've tried to win some of the X2 3800 auctions and its bidding price went over 200 CAD. Honestly, for 200 CAD, I can purchase an E6300 from DirectCanada.

The supply of s939 is starting to run low
Fast computers breed slow, lazy programmers
The price of reliability is the pursuit of the utmost simplicity. It is a price which the very rich find most hard to pay.

AMd is charging a price premium for 90nm Opterons which they promised to produce until the end of 2007 because they have to leave portion of their fabs unconverted to 65nm to keep making these cores. I woudl charge extra for old stock too.

even if that is the case, its gona bode well for AMD on the consumer sales end, especially since intel can sell better performing 65nm dual core processors for cheaper.

Prices came back down. The 170 is, once again $193 and the 175 slighlty higher than it was at $255.

Newegg probably glitched, I don't see how they would expect anyone to pay $500 for an Opty 175 regardless of how rare it is. At that point you might as well sell your motherboard and bundles of DDR and go AM2 or C2D.
