    8800GTX 3dmark03 Vista vs. XP

i installed the leaked 100.30 drivers for the 8800GTX for x86 Vista, and here are my comparisons between XP (97.92 drivers) and Vista in 03 (06 wouldnt run without a missed dx9 dll?).

stock speed on the GTX, and 2.6ghz for the AMD. i didnt tweak anything to get the score higher (minus no sound tests... no audigy 2 drivers for vista, unless im blind), its all for comparing.
of course 3dmark03 is still a dx9 app, so you cant compare that, but i guess these new drivers boosted dx9 performance anyways?

anyone else had a chance to test vista's 3d performance in comparison to xp's? im not exactly confident in these scores, as i only ran each once and didnt check for consistancy :/

I did tested Vista (32 bit) with 6600DDR2 with 3D01 and it was slightly faster and yes 3D06 won’t go, another guy here tested Company of heroes with X1900XT and it was much faster but that time it was 64 bit

Edit : @XP run you used same resolution in the background as the test ? although it won’t make such big difference but it will be more like apples to apples

The problem you are having with 06 is because of Vista's nature and it has caused problems for many applications but yes it does appear to more efficiently perform in benchmarks

Hmm, Vista x64 sux on the other hand. I lost like 2-3K in 3dmark03 and like 10K in 01 using 7300Gt ddr3. You got me curious so I will test and see if non DX10 cards gain anything under x86 vista

By the way, anyone knows a working solution to overclocking nvidia cards under Vista? Nothing worked under x64 vista

Seeing stuff like this makes me want to jump on Vista Ultimate next week. Driver support still isn't 100% though is it? I mean from Creative, ATI, Nvidia etc.

I am also wondering if going 32bit is the wisest choice or should I go straight to 64bit to finally take advantage of my cpu being able to do so.

I think the only supported for Vista is the 06 atm.

    Nice results.
I tried also but benching time ago with my old 7600GT and Vista RC1 and vista resuts were 100 points beyond the XP ones.

Strange thing happened this weekend, I reformatted from XP to Vista Ultimate and went from 57641 to 49514 on 3D Mark 01. I was using the 100.40 drivers on Vista and the 97.92's for XP. I was so disgusted I wiped the drive clean and the copy of Vista with my AZZ and threw it in the trash. Mabye i missed something... Better get the rubber gloves out.
