but others I can change @ 762 Mhz.

PS. Use Rabit 2.2.0 and Atiwinflash 1.10 to get your clocks right. Too bad rabit can't change timings yet.

    I read that too.

I read that using between 105-115 should be best for this card.
I always use my PCI frecuency at 101 but right now Im using it at 110.
I have no tme to work a lot on OCing the GPU right now, so, Im staying like this and surely the next week I will have results.

Riva Tuner didnt work well for me (althuogh, I really didnt try everything, I just gave it a try... that shouldnt be enough....)

Haven't noticed any positive effects, tried between 100-120Mhz.

All good news! there is update to 27MHz memory step: actually the memory frequency can be changed in 6.75MHz steps. for example if you have now reached 783MHz the next step will be 783.00+6.75=890 but not 789 (eg. rounded). btw you can use ATI Tray Tools with driver level method enabled - this gives no stucks black screens. to use it you must enable "overclocking limit" and set it to 200-300% in tool settings - this gives up to 2000(DDR) memory frequency setting range. but there is an issue with driver which prevents correct memory frequency to be set. look what i set and then what i get:

    set/result
    1080/432
    432/864
    1296/864
    1512/1296
    1566/1404
    1620/1512
    1647/1566
    1674/1620
    1674/1620
    1687,5/1647
    1710/1687,5
    1714,5/1701
    864/1714,5

so you can find set/result values for your needs or just use RivaTuner as i described above but be an accurate to avoid black stuck screens.

    Happy New Year coming!

Hey gAf - When I use ATI Tray Tools with driver level method enabled along with enable "overclocking limit" and set it to 200-300% in tool settings the OC goes back to default. It only lets put 200, if I put 300 it goes back to 200. Also, do I need to kill ATi Hotkey Poller? And I did use the optimal mem timings. And lastly, if I leave with "Overclocking Method: Low Level" it does take the OC values corretly unlike the numbers you posted earlier w/o locking up. Thanks.

nicepun weird. i'm not sure but i have 300%. nothing goes back. i'll check it. last version of ATT already kills ati hotkey poller on startup. i didn't try yet ATT with low level - only RT. will try tomorrow.

One side NOTE: You must enter the values on the right column that you provided, otherwise you get the black screen and freeze. And yes I'm using the latest ATiTray Tools 1.2.6.964!

So what's the point using ATI Tray Tools? Rivatuner 2.0 or bios tuning works well enough.

    I have set Bios clocks 650/755 GPU/MEM

real values are 648/749. Tried that ATI Tray Tools thingie, didn't change mem clocks at all with driver level clocking.

    Edit: Low level method crashed.

Spacehead actually RT is enough but ATT+driver level mode gives no black screen stucks for my asus 1950pro and by this way i finally understand mem clock step 6.75MHz rule. for now i using RT too with low-level because now i know my mem steps. i didn't flash bios - no sense for me. 24/7 freq are 621/810. VRM's very warm and i'm think there is no sense do vGPU with air-cooling.

BTW. Are you keeping VPU Recover on?

I think it is good to keep it on , because it tells what actually crashed, software, CPU, or GPU, or GMEM

I did Vgpu mod with 30€ silver conductive lacquer. Gives black screens. VRMs well cooled , hot to touch, but well below 126 C degree limit. Overcurrent protection causes this. Dont know WHY THE I BOUGHT THIS CARD!

    I HAve ALreadY SPENT 337 €UROS for THIS !
    !
    237€ for card , 50€ for top - notch waterblock , 30 € lacquer, 20 € heatsinks.......... Kill me..................... :|

Don't buy this card, tell it to your friends.

PS. Vgpu is 1.44 after connecting 1,2,3 and 6 :th resistors to solder pads.

Definately a bust, but only for those with digital VRMS, I think. I'm sending mine back because it's just too much trouble to OC.

shouldn't digital vrms offer more current?

no offence but RMAing a card simply because its too hard to overclock is really not a good enough reason Try to set a good example on xs. Besides didn't you just get a 8800gts?

I should have said that THIS particular card is a bad one, the other one I had was a good card. This one freezes with little or no overclocking and I think it's the reason why I was having so much trouble in Crossfire before. The good card has been sold. I had a 7900GTX (SOLD) and two X1950Pro (One Sold and kept one for my backup rig). The 8800 GTS is in my main rig. I'm just getting it swaped for another that's all. And no offense was taken as everyone and anyone is entitled to their point of views and opinions.

Okay so if we were to make a final "total morons" guide to overclocking 2 x1950 pro cards in crossfire would it go like this?

    dl riva tuner
    dl ati tool 26
    dl ati tool patch

    go to control panel\administrative tools\services\ati hotkey poller\properties\startup(disable)

    patch ati tool .exe

    open ati tool
    ---------------------------
select which bus your card is on (if you have more than 1 card /crossfire)
create a profile with the default clock speeds (I named mine 'mem')
go to the oc screen in ati tool with the sliders and click mem (this will show your cards default timings)
    change the timings
save the timings under the profile you created earlier
go back and select the 2nd card you want to change
click mem again in the sliders window
select the profile you created earlier and hit apply

    open riva tuner
    -----------------
under power user select RIva tuner \overclocking\ ati
    enable driverlevel 3dclock control (+1)
    (adjust fans to 100%)

go to main tab\customize\graphics subsystem diagnostic report\
ati specific display adapter information (this will show you the increments on how you will adjust your memory clocks) $ffffffffff ATI specific display adapter information
    ----------------------------------------------------------------
    $0900000000 Graphics core : RV570 (12tmu)
    $0900000002 Memory bus : 256-bit
    $0900000001 Memory type : DDR3 SGRAM
    $0900000003 Memory amount : 256MB
    $0900000004 Core clock : 580.500MHz
    $0900000005 Memory clock : 702.000MHz (1404.000MHz effective)
    $0900000006 Reference clock : 27.000MHz

    (mine is 27)

    OVERCLOCK THE CARDS
    ------------------------

go to main tab\customize\low-level system settings (this is where you overclock the cards)
oc your core clock (you should know what your gpu core can handle by now) I set mine to 654

next overclocking the mem (this is the tricky part)

increase it by 27MHZ step e.g. by reference clock. so on my board i have:
702(default) then +27=729 etc. etc. just keep adding 27 or you can also move slider to 783 right from the start providing that your mem can handle it.
    729, 756, 783, 810, 837, 864, 891... and so on.

next select the 2nd card and repeat the overclock.

Its best to run each card separately at first so you know what your cards max out at.

one of my cards does 654/837 and the other does 641/756 (just remember which pci bus your cards are on. I put the better card in the top x16 slot and the crap card on the bottom slot.

hope this helps. Thanks to everyone for contributing.
Is this only for asus or HIS cards? I can't get it to work with my sapphire x1950pro, I get a black screen as usual.

God Damn! It was super hard to solder those small resistors. Now I have again @ default voltage.
R3066 was accidently removed, I had to replace it with VR set to 5.9 kOhms
Also one resistor from VID config "table" was removed

But now at least 2D is working. I hope 3D works also. If it doesn't I have to get drugged tonight.

    Edit: I almost ordered 8800GTS or 7950GT or X1950XT

but it worked, ..... now my vgpu is 1.12V
    3Dmark05 9900 at default clocks

I wish I could achieve 1.35V. That is all I want.

Patched ATI Tool No good For me...

ok. i do it myself. now you just need to:
    1. install atitool v0.26
    2. close application if it running.
    3. overwrite original atitool.exe by this one.

    good luck
And you will need that luck! When I followed your instructions and ran the cracked ATI Tool the first thing I did was click default and I got a total crash.

Dunno who this is working for...

CyberDruid by clicking 'default' you probably do change current gpu/mem clocks. this could work only if you uncheck some options in "x1000 overclocking" tab and turn off "precise clock changing" or something like that in "overclocking" tab. but i'm not sure this helps. try RivaTuner or ATI Tray Tools for this. btw, there is only one difference from original ATITool.exe - enabling memory timings tweaking control.

Hey, im new to these forums but not overclocking in general, anyways...

Any of you guys try using the x1950pro specific drivers, they come in the stock disk? Apparently these drivers have been yielding slight performance gains over cat 6.12 drivers, and w/cat 6.12's my memory was downclocked from sapphire ultimate spec of 1600mhz to 1400mhz reference, these drivers fixed that, but I was having artifacting / freezing problems from what im not sure.

heres the link for the drivers btw but they come on the stock disk. clickith.
These drivers appear to have a different version number (6.14s?) than the standard catalyst ones.

Another question, Ive been having problems getting ATT to allow me to O/C on the driver level, I disable ATI pooler, I set OC limits to 200%, but the only time it allowed me to actually overclock on the driver level was after ATT install when it prompted me to kill ati pooler, I checked to see if I could overclock, I could, I rebooted and now I cant oc anymore.

What is your resistance in VID config table. Those resistors are in paraller.

Edit: I cleaned Volterra regulators area with ethanol and painted some bridges again.
VID Config Table at 1.44 kOhms gives you 1.37V

Now I have it working in 2D.
But 3D crashes as I don't have R3066 in place. I have try to solder VR back there when I have well rested.

    Edit2: Gpu/mem 550/700 works , over current protection sucks.

I'd say, if you want your X1950Pro to last for a year, don't overclock it at all.

Edit3: I found a big normal resistor , 8 kOhms. I try to contact it with silver laqcuer and solder. I have no idea what is the meaning of R3066.
