Project Blackhole
General info about the project:
Since it was time to build a new pc, i started looking for a new case and computer parts.
This wasn't a easy job for me because i wanted to use a single or dual 360 rad WC setup.
Because i found most cases to small to fit my needs i only ended up with 4 options.
- Custom frame build
- UFO casing
- Lian Li's cases
Well the custom frame is still work in progress but since i don't want the computer parts doing nothing for ages i needed to buy a pre made case.
The pre made case needed to be big enough to fit all the parts, and needs to be future proof so it will also fit my needs in a year.
The UFO case is hard to get, at least for me since i live in the Netherlands. So i checked out the lain li's 2000 series pretty big and where very easy to get.
So i did some research about the case, snooping for the right price and then i stumbled on the 343B modular cube case.
Bigger and better then the v2000, and cheaper then the v2000.. yeah cheaperSo i ordered it right away!!
Well until i snooped for the extra fans girls and lian li 343b parts.. Well the cost u an extra 100 euro's if u dont watch out!!
So since i got the case it was time to start building, i got some idea's but nothing really planned. I dont find it realy creative
For now my idea's for the case are to do a modded front, top, sides. Mostly using Mirror acryl, so the case keeps a "Dark" black look.
When u put on the inside case lights u will be able to see the insides of the casing, so u wont have a disco effect all the time!
I want to have a clean look, not a disco ball.. sry :P

DAY: 1
Today i got 95% off my needed parts so i found it time to start building blackhole. At least do the basic testing and setting up the watercooling.
Well it was time for me to unpack the 343, its extremely leight case and is very easy to handle! Leight enough to bring it with u to a lan party!
But while unpacking it gives me a feeling that it will be a very noisy case. Since some plates are vibrating all ready only by moving the case around.
So i added some extra silencing to the planning list, because i got this case in the living room where i dont want it to be very noisy!!
It was easy to strip the case to the bone, so u only have the frame left. So its easy to work with, and u wont damage your case plates.
Picture timehrhr
Front view, with out the front cover and side plates.
Top view with cover still on it.
The cat was inspecting the new case (YES, A CAT NO RAT!!!)
Case side where i will put the PSU and WC parts.
Back side, as you can see every backplate can be removed! Nice
Perhaps i will make some new backplates since im not that happy with them.
Motherboard side, need to sleeve those cables!!
Original front view, will be modded
Carbon top, thinking about using some more on the case it self!
Backside of the front cover, nothing special! Clips need to be modded for better grip.
Some side plate pictures, made from 1mm alu, so it will be very noisy!!
Well ist keeps the case light! But i rather have it on 3mm, a welle happens
![]()
The boxnicely packed.
EVGA 680i waiting to be mounted
Nicely packed PSU, well i rather have a simple box and a cheaper PSU but who cares anyway..
Check it out looks nice huh?
I love the see tru 140mm PSU FAN, so u can see inside!!
Well my new Tagan PSU, its one off the nicest PSU if had!!
Will check out the performance laterMultimeter is waiting ^^
PSU mounted, very nice overview on the frame!
Enough space between the rack and the PSU.
Picture from the top plate, will mod it later
Original backplate, can fit a 120mm FAN.
Case is waiting to get the motherboard mounted.
Everything nicely labeled in the lian li case.
Fitting in the motherboard.
While i was unpacking the mobo, i noticed something realy ARGH!
Look at the pics..Never had this before.. Bah!
At least the cool ribs are straight, well not sure if i will keep them on. Want to buy the MIPS 680i chipset WC blocks.
Mounting screws placed.
Setting the motherboard.
Looks straight to me
My B062, hopefully it will get to a 3.8 minimum.
The other case i build for my cat
Time to fit in the 360 RAD
Mounting plates for the RAD.
My new fans, lets hope the get below 18DB..
Lian Li Fan case, still waiting on the other 2.
Initial setup, 3 push fans and 1 pull fan!
RAD placed, also one off the Fan cases with 120mm inside
DCC Plus + Ultra top.
Old HDD rack that i will mod to my pump housing
Made it a bit smaller, will pimp it up laterif i will use it :P
Placed the tank on the backplate
Watercool heatkiller CPU block, can handle up to 150c
Looks nice too, will polish it later on
Mounted CPU and the waterblock mount screws.
Looks so nice
Radiator, pump, some fans mounted and the watertank hanging.
Making the setup ready for leak testing. Not expecting any leaks but anyway.
Better safe then sorry
Fan grils that i plan to use. Gives a clean look, and is functional to
Fan grils mounted. keeps some dust out!!
I realy love the power cord
Simple and fast setup for leak testing the system. Didnt want to use the other system *yet* Old 800mhz intel and my Modded PSU
Water is running, air too.. BAH~!! System is air tight, so will need to get it out my self. LEAK TESTING
DAY: 2
Leak test was a suc6, no leaks so i changed the water to my premade blue water.
Its time to fire up the system and start building on the case!!
Well after putting in the blue water, and fireing up the test system.. Airbubbles!! BAH!!
While the system was running, i wrecked the fan controllers and stripped them in too parts.
Still allot of air in the tubes, so i need to wait a bit longer.
Parts in the front, need to fit in in later.
This is how it will look latersneed to dremel the plate later!
Backplate is ready to be placed, mounted the 120mm fan.
Here is where the backplate it going to be placed.
Backplate placed, but it won't fit!! the motherboard cover is 2mm off.. need to mod it
So modded it on a few places, red lines show where.
Warning conducts electricity, liquid metal as cooling paste.
But a B**ch to apply on the processor, but sticks good on kopper.
Heatkiller nice and shinny, ready to be mounted.
Heatkiller mounted and ready to cool the E6600
Ready to unpack, Cellshock CAS4 1000mhz RAM.
Looking NICE!!
I love this picture
Unpacking the 8800 GTX, reference card
8800 GTX mounted and about 3cm left between the card and the rack.
Most air is out of the WC, and everything is ready to go.
Mounted one 7200.10 to test the system with XSOS 2.0 cant wait on the beta 3.0
Power led burns, but system is not starting.. WTF broken PSU, motherboard?!?!
Testing the system with a ANTEC 500w, crappy but works
Only one connector, sucks so no stable Vcore.. well at least it powers the motherboard..
The rad backside, rdy to fire up![]()
26c with 1 push and 1 pull vent, BUT the FAN caseing sux it amplifies the fan sound. BAH!
Still allot of air in the WC.
Releasing the air again, system is air tight, so the air cant escape when closed.
Still have air in the tubing
Better temp with some air outyeah
More air out, and again and again.. I need a air drainPlanned it.
Ok i hate those casings, BAH.. ripping the fans out and going for a 3x pull setup.
Old setup
New 3x Pull Setup, its sucks paper on the rad
Front view with radiator mounted.
Mounted the CD-rom, will polish and paint it later.
Running passiv on windoze, 22 - 23c living room @ 23c
Who build this bios, FIX IT! BAH!
Did some CPU overclocking and testing, did a 7 hour dual orthos @ 3856mhz
There is allot left in the CPU with a airless WC and stable power supply.
Having allot of voltage drops on the Vcore, what makes the system very unstable.
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=152270
Will test it further with my new power supply, since this antec sucks the lamas ass
Dont know how long the RMA will take, but since it was a DOA it wont take long i hope.. *G*
DAY: 3
Did a major update on my post, since the old one was crappy.
Nothing much has happend, going to fire up the dremel to mount the PUMP.
Perhaps mod the front of the case, so it will fit the termo and fan controlers.
Todays pictures will follow later
Well i did mod the front of the case, destroyed some dremel disks and a drill
It was fun to do, made a mess here.. but who cares hehe.. Result is kinda ok.
Think i will add some carbon on the front, first want to have the missing parts.
So i can see what i will change furter on the casing![]()
Moved the water tank and *SNAP*.. Glue anyone? bah.
Test run with the dremel on a blend plate, the dremel eats the alui love it.
Cutting, Cutting, Cutting, *SPLAT**SNAP**POINK* disk broken.. NEXT!
Glasfibre disk, not very usefull.. see the differnce
Temp display cut out off the case front.
Some temperature shots3856mHZ 1 hour dual orthos @ 27c CPU and 24.3c WaterCooling and 21c living room.
Can live with it.. how about you?
Did some more work on the front, broken drill.. to much pressure.. ooops :x
Look here, the "semi" end result!!
Need some glue, BAH.. need to find a beter solution for this mess...
No more moddin for today, Tomorrow replacement of the pump and rerouting the watercooling..
Perhaps we can improve the temps a bit..Thats it for today!
DAY: 4
Not much has happend, mostly naggin the supplier about my ordered goodies.
Well nothing new there, waiting waiting and more waiting.
The DOA powersupply RMA is not updated eighter, so also waiting
I hate waiting, because i cant get any further this way.
Only good thing is that i recieved a small batch of other goodies.
Well one off the goodies was some flex sleeve so i could fix the cable mess
Well its nice how lian li labels the cables
The flex sleeveOnly 5m, i think i need to order some extra.
Springs to fix the tubing!!
UV lights![]()
![]()

![]()
New clamp, to replace the broken one
Well didnt have much time left today but i worked on rerouting the tubes to make them shorter.
I managed to cut out aber 40 tubing so thats a win i hope. Could not test it right away.
Fitted in some springs to make it posible, with out the springs the tubes would allready be nicked.
The springs also give a nice look with UV lights on, so im not that bothered by them.
After i fixed the tubing, i checked out how to place the pump.
At first i wanted to use a old 3.5 HD rack cut up to mount in the pump.
But i changed my mind and simply mounted the pump on the casing with some rubber mounts.
I cant hear the pump so the rubber mounts do there job wellCheck out the pics.
Drilled some holes for the rubber mounts.
As u can see i shorted the routes and start using the top pump inlet.
Pump on its rubber mounts.
Well since the pump was mounted it was time to fix the front panel solder time
So the good old look, need to be changed to fit in the front.
Removed the power connectors
Soldered the wires on the first one.
End result, sry forgot to take a extra pic..
Well to fit the fan controlers i need to cut some parts out of the case frame.
This is also for wires and connectors.
So dremeled ou the part.. notice the flies in the radiatorthe got sucked in by the fan LOL
Need those front filters asap
So if cut the hole, now it was time to do some sleeving, yeah need to switch sometimes
Front connector, sleeving it
wasnt realy happy about the alu look, so i got out the good old commandant 4.
Tried some on the bottom plate and started rubbing the plate for like 3 hours until i was sick of it and went to bed.
DAY: 5
No pictures no updates, only polish polish polish and more polish... BAH BAH..
So far, 5 old t-shirts totaly black from polishing the alu
DAY: 6
Well the bottom plated turned out nice, so i stripped the case again
Some off the results after about 16 hours off manual hand laber.. BAH NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!
I didnt polish it to ultra mirror style, since it will be scratching any ways, and now it reflects light and give little mirror effect.
Well since i striped it, i also checked out the liquid metal how it reacted after 24 hours CPU burnout last couple off days.
Need to add some extra metal since the cpu isnt fully covered.. need to watch out, if it leaks on the motherboard its bye bye.. since it conducts
So it was time to go to bed, did too much polishing my arm hurts.. tomorrow we will reassemble the computers again.
DAY: 7
Well first a litte mirror effect picsry hrhr
Not very nice with the flash, but u can see the reflection, the polishing cant be seen by normal eye, only with flash and camera.
Well i did some more sleeving
90% got sleeved now yeah!!
Girlfriend did a pick up at the store, anti vibration pads only 1 euro
Spare me the other mombo jombo crap! this works 100%
Well testing time, so im rebuilding the computer again.
Front didnt work out as a planned, so bigger hole!!!
Cutter disk abuse, i love it
Cable boxu will see in the next pic
Here are the connectors going to be placed.
Perhaps i will add some leds for effect.
Daylight, so no need for uberflashing, so u can see the mirror looks
Cable housing again..
Mirror effect on the other side, bit dust from the last cutting.
cool breeze, i hate them allready.. cold sitting next to the computer!!!
Unpacked the UV lights.. so i could fit in the switch.
Ugly box, will fix that when i got time for it.. first things first.
The switch that needs to be fitted in the bottom of the case.
Looking where to put it, ready to cut out some alu
SO, switch fitted in the bottom plate
Well its allready Day 8 so going for the next day.
DAY: 8
Well its 02:00am in day 7 almost time to go to bed.
Been typing and fixing the pictures for the update last hour.
Well the UV lights are burningneed to mount them when i get up in couple of hours.
Do some minor changes, and get the air out of the WC again.. air is a .......
It doesnt seem cooler after rerouting the lines, but will know for sure if i get 95% of the air out.
Didnt manage to build in a air outlet since i didnt have the needed parts yet.
Well thats it for now, enjoy the last pics with uv lights.. far from done..
oh ja, i didnt bother grabbing the camera stand, so pics can be blurry since i didnt flash.
ITS late give me a break, just wait till the end result then i will use the camera stand :P
Well im off, today update will follow.. :p

So i ordered it right away!!
ppl learning how to use there cache?!
