    Fatbody RAM on ebay

hey guys just noticed this auction with 2x1GB fatbody sticks

after my experience with OCZ fatbody RAM i wouldn't touch any with a ten foot pole unless they were guaranteed to OC well (let alone just boot)

I had a set just like them and they wouldn't boot in my P5B or EVGA 680i.

I cant say you'll have the same experience but just giving a heads up.

These are the sticks I bought. Im hoping they get here tomorrow. I was waiting until I was able to test them to post them, the guy has like 100+ sticks.

Note: he sells them in dutch auctions as well.. $90 each. To order 2 with shipping and insurance in USA is $194-195... shipping + insurance on the 2 stick lots is $10, so dont bid more than $184 for one of the lots.

He also offers The squaretrade insurance (3yr) (not sure how that works) for ~$13/stick.

    dinos22,

I know that you are aware of this, as you've posted in this thread, but for the rest of the guys, you need to read this before you do any bidding.

These sticks simply don't like the Asus mobos, or at least my Asus boards. I know from first hand, because like MACMAC, I bought 6 of them back in early October and could not get them to boot on either of my 925XE or 955X based Asus boards. He told me about them and I jumped on them hoping for the best, but in the end I had to return them all...shame, too as I had 6 x 1gig sticks of D9DQW for $510 or so, shipped.

The good thing is that the Seller refunded the purchase price, plus shipping and insurance so I can at least tell you that the guy was beyond reproach with me.
In memory of Gracie, my sweet, sweet wife and mother of my children. Darling, we will miss you dearly. May you rest in peace (born to this world on March 30, 1976; went to her Heavenly Father on Good Friday, April 22, 2011).

My fatbody 1GB stick is the only stick I haven't had a problem with yet.....out of 9.

ASUS boards and an XBX were used....heck, my fatbody stick even worked after one ASUS board went berserck and was surging 4V+ to the RAM.

It's the only stick I've EVER gotten to work after a CMOS clear or on a fresh board.....something's going on with these SPDs I reckon......hmmmm, I'm slowly convincing myself to pick up a pair of these....heh

Hold your horses only the ICS are Fatbody, check out the PCB seems like some low end pcb..
The PCB is just as important as the ICS

Yeah, that's what's holding me back....otherwise I'd go buy three sticks right now....heh

Too bad he doesn't have pics of the otherside.....though it does look like some form of BrainPower (though that doesn't mean anything as BP is almost always cheaper to use than JEDEC)

hey MTP04 were you able to change settings on the boards with one set of sticks and then boot this RAM.....i have to say i was able to do that on both DS3 and P5B Deluxe with fatties but they were just hmmmm i donno...not very impressive

here is my old test with some OCZ fats on DS3

~450MHz 4-3-3-3 2.2v is not too bad actually

all most all the major manufacturer use BP now as a standard on their ram even my cheapo transcend value rams has BP on them. ddr1 and ddr2
yeah some like to build their own custom 8 layer boards

a good PCB is just as important as the ICS, the cellshock ddr2 have a custom build 8 layer PCB
they could have gone with some 6 layer PB but then it wouldnt do so well now would it?

I had 2 stick of UCCC one of them was a generic no brand ram with uccc and no name pcb
the other was transcend with UCCC and brainpower.

The generic stick crapped out at 230-235
    The transcends reached 280
oh this was on my old UltraD

    Edit
dinos22 i think it has to do with the pcb quality itself. PB is 6 layer.
