    7900GS Testing. UPDATED!

Well actually the whole point of the session was to test out a new e6600 on dry ice but since my motherboard has a FSB wall of 477mhz, the cpu was only able to go so high. So I decided to see what 3d scores I could get. The results are nothing crazy but I thought i'd show them anyway.

    System specs:
    E6600 L29A on dry ice
    EVGA 680i
    Asus 7900gs -1.5v vcore/stock vmem w/modded TT Volcano 10 cooler
    OCZ PC-8000 2GB kit
    Liberty 620w

    LOD + 3

Your 05 score is low. I did 11,7K with GS (690/1880) and Allendale @ 3.4GHz.

Try it again. I think you can do better score with that setup
You are as good as your samples are!

    Very Nice results!

I just picked up a 7900GS and it will do 692/886 with 1.4v gpu.

Your 01 score destroy's mine but the results start to get closer as the benches get less CPU Dependent, really shows the extra power of the Conroe though.
    AMD X2 3800+ 2.5ghz 1.36vcore
    Big Typhoon (19 Idle/ 38 Load)
    DFI NF4 Ultra-D
    1 Gig OCZ PC3200 Gold
    BFG 7900GS (675,880)
    OCZ Powerstream 520w

I was thinking the same thing. Not sure what I did wrong. Although I didnt spend alot of time with 05, I spent alot of time with 01, then 03 and then whatever I had left with 05. Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Yeah the higher clocks and extra cache really show in 01 but not as much for the rest. This card is fun to play with, with better cooling and a volt mod the clocks scale nicely. What cooler are you using?

I'm using an Arctic Silencer Rev 6.

I bumped up the voltage to 1.45 and the cooler is starting get a little weak, hitting about 70 degree's max. I think part of this is because the fan is only running at 30%, gonna flash the Bios and turn up the fan speed and see how much that helps.

yeah, like it was said, 05 is really low. usually a sign something is a bit too pushed.

bring the core down a bit and you will see scores go back up, same happens with my GS.

    Thanks guys!

The card just wants to clock higher and higher each time I try it out, especially the memory. I am really happy with this purchase. Oh and just in case someone is wondering its Hynix memory.

I'm sure its not throttling down as the core never goes above 45-48c but I will try lower clocks and see what happens. Thanks for the tip.

My fan is always at 100% for benching, havent tried lower but then again I have a different cooler than you.

I'm back with some more testing, this time with my new GPU container and a different cpu. The scores are a low for the clocks and thats because my system memory was at a low setting, next time around i'll remember to trun them up.

    System specs:

    EVGA 680i board
    X6800 L31A - 1.55vcore
Cooling: Dry ice with custom CPU container
    Asus 7900gs - 1.6vcore\2.15vmem
Cooling: Dry ice with custom GPU container
    OEM Micron 2GB kit
    Liberty 620w

Thanks Andy. Yes I do plan on going SLI but before I do I want to test my new container more before I decide to make a second.
