    quick question about psu's help!!!!

i have just stuck together a celeron rig lowely 1.8 with 256mb ram and i was wondering if i could run it of an old atx power supply 145w. 20 pin plug but no 4 pin one and i was wondering it it would work with out it as the mobo has that socket on board.

i have it all ready to power up just dont want to risk killing it if the psu doesnt work right.

You should find the PSU app 250-300w to run it. 20 pin is better 12 pin. i hope you don't want to see it with fire and smoke

LOL you edited 12-->24 . if don't have 4pin 12v is ok, which mobo you use?. Some momo don't boot if don't plug 4pin 12v.

If it is a celeron and just that ram and a hard drive I'd say you'd be fine. I've run an A-XP mobo that had the 4 pin 12 volt without the extra 12 volt line just fine, just don't push it too hard would be my only warning.

    I have an old 150W PSU that powers a P4 Northwood @ 2.4 Ghz, a Radeon 9600XT, 768Megs of ram, 4 NICs, 1 Wireless NIC, a soundcard, 2 opticals and a 80GB drive.

Guess what? It works fine, consumes around 120 Watts @ load

EDIT: It's an ASUS P4B mobo, that one has got an extra molex connector on it for when the PSU doesn't have a P4 connector. Was one of the first of the new design. Never tried booting it without the molex connector though, but I guess it'll boot without too much trouble.
