Abit AB9 Pro unmodded + retail 6400 = 3.74GHz

Thanks to Micutzu who was crazy enough to push vcore up to 1.7V (in tests) I made it this far : 468x8 SPi 1MB an 465x8 3DMark01SE

BIOS: 1.5
Voltages: 1.675 Vcore, 1.45 Vmch, 1.7 Vichio, 2.4 Vddr
Cooling: Arctic Freezer 7 Pro

Yeah you got pretty lucky. I use 430x7 1:1 daily with a 6300. VCHIO stock, VMCH 1.4v, Vcore stock, Vdimm 2.1v. 440 and above needs VCHIO raising, but 450 seems impossible even with the highest setting... Will try higher vcore later (only tried stock so far), but my guess is that I need more VMCH or VCHIO.

*edit* - When I say impossible I mean "impossible to make it stable". I can boot 450, into windows and stuff.

Johnny's I believe was done using phase change cooling on NB. Will point him at this thread tho and he can explain.

512 was hit here using the stock NB cooler and ~ 1.88 vMCH. Only "additional" cooling was some dry ice pellets piled ontop of the NB cooler. This dropped NB temps to ~ 25deg (probe on side of the sink)
Slapping a waterblock on would probably give a similar effect would imagine chilled water would give better results still.
Not really extreme cooling lol. Only mods on the board are vFSB and vMCH. vFSB is still pretty much stock afaik

OK you can get over 500MHz using a decent air cooler on the NB. The trick is a few extra tenths of volts on the chip, and things are safe so long as you keep it cool. BIOS versions 1.5v and 1.9v are good for this too. The phase cooling was there just to get a WR for the FSB speed

Not sure if Johnny found the same, but anything above 1.5v on vichio makes things worse for me

No I was actually pointing out there are two good BIOS version 1.5 and the beta 1.9. the vmch mod is definately needed, running mine on air about 1.6-1.7volts iirc. vichio works best at 1.5v as Highland3r said we both found that at uber high FSB is hampers the clocks if you up the voltage from 1.5volts.

Had no idea there was this beta 1.9 version... Is it better than 1.5? I'll try to find FUGGER's thread, but if anyone has a link I'd appreciate it

Will also look for AB9's vmods, I think someone already posted here in XS, I remember seeing it once.

And weir,d vichio actually helped a bit when I tried to get 450 fsb stable... But I'll stick to 1.5v

Unlikely you'll reach 500FSB in that case. However this is Xtremesystems - voltmods are standard

CPU got a little hot but, around 77 80 degrees celcius, mobo around 50 degrees celcius.
But unfortunately my AB9-PRO died. I benched and all went fine, but when i shutdown the pc had problems booting.
Its not because of settings, but the board is just dead as hell

I pushed mine at 436 for about 100 hours and it was fine, decided to do a speed run with the latest beta at 485 and killed it. It is back at abit for investigation now. Sometimes the need for speed kills.

i hate you ^^ , mine E6400 goes to 3700Mhz on 1.4 but i have some Geil 800 Ultra on ing elpida , memtest shows errors on one stick of those crap ;/ above 800Mhz O_0

I finally broke 4Ghz, e6400, 500fsb

I could do 463fsb benchable on 145v Vmch, and 450fsb full stable.
I did the Vmch pencilmod made by Ntfs and could go up to 2v (motherboard could handle 2v :P)
I can run 3dmark over 3800mhz, but didn't try higher.
Can do superpi 1M at 3940mhz, if i remember correct.







I need other NB cooling to get 500fsb more stable, this Zalman NB heatsink can't handle the heatload.
