    If I place 20k resistor for Vdimm, how many voltage will I get?

    I have just done the vdroop mod with a straight 56kohm resistor and it has resulted in it overvolting which I would be happy with even though it still droops. The main problem I'm having is it won't let me boot into windows with any reasonable overclock (It resets as soon as it starts to load) I can only get 21x140fsb@1.525v(set in bios) 1.625v(idle) 1.58v(load) out of my 511J which is 21x133fsb stock where as before it was hitting 21x191 @ 1.7v (set in bios) 1.58v(idle) 1.48v(load). Anyone else experience similar or know of a solution to my problem?

    A fixed resistor won't cut it . Get a 50K vr and set it to its maximum value of 50K then lower the value to find the right balance. It will take a little time to adjust . I set my voltage to 1.6 in the bios and lowered the resistance until I hit a 1.6v reading from the motherboard chip. I'm sure others have their opinion on where to set the voltage at but this worked well for me as I am now sitting at 1.59 in windows and 1.61 under load

    I have question: when i make this vdimm mod, what happens with voltages in bios, are they changed or I have to messure with multimeter?

    Read Vdimm with a multimeter. The BIOS only has an option to SET Vdimm, not to READ Vdimm.

    20k for start, lower to ingrease voltage. I hope for you 20k is not to much voltage yet for your memory.

    gonna try out the vdimm mod tomorrow, 2.1 is too low and i just measured the actual reading with a dmm and it reads 2.02

    so things to get are a couple of wires, a 20k VR and some time and steady hands heh

    I`ll buy crucial ballistix this week, and I need at least 2.2V for it, probably and more at 1000+Mhz

    I have a P5B and a 5K VR. What kind of voltages am I looking at after I do this mod (or is 5K not enough... I have 10K and 20K as well)?

    I think the voltage will be quite high with a 5k vr. Set the bios voltage to 1,8 volts and the VR to 5k and the vdimm should be at about 2,3-2,5v i'd guess.
    If you have more 5k vr's lying arround you could always have two in a serial connection = 10k

    I actually eneded up finding a 10K resistor and used that.

    I have another question about the VDroop mod. The highest VR I have is a 20K, and I know the mod calls for a 50K. Could I put a 30K Fixed resistor in serial with the 20K VR? I assume that would work correct?

    So, I've managed to do the Vdimm mod, it all worked just fine... But I sniffed around in this thread after the VMCH mod, and I saw something, but I never got it quite straight, does anyone have a clear pic that tells me which points to connect?

    It'd be very much appreciated, I'm more or less stuck at 450FSB stable with this piece of junk...

    well i have just bought all the bits to do the mods and thought i would check the voltages at all the different places before i mod my board to find out whats what.
    on no36 i get 1.26 not 1.28 so im defo a bit low on the mch.
    then i ran across a problem when i try to measure the voltage between the two 1.35v i get 0v?? am i supposed to test those two points together for vfsb or do i need to check one of them with my black multimeter wire on a ground.
    Sorry to bother you chaps but the result of 0v is puzzling me??!!!.
    i look forward to a reply so i can find out my readings properly but if im supposed to measure the voltage between those 2 points and im measuring it right then why is my vfsb 0??

    On the points we meassured 1.35V we put one cable of our Vmeter on that point and the other cable to ground. I've you put your second cable not on ground but on the other point where you meassure 1.35V, then it's obvious you see 0V on your Vmeter.

    ah good i thought when i got 0 v i had done it wrong so ill remeasure it with black probe on a ground, thanks for clearing up my confusion.

    1.32 where it says 1.35 so i shall defo be modding this board with all the mods shortly as i have serious vdroop , my bios is at 1.4125 and its getting 1.33 in windows and drops to 1.32 under 50% load and 1.30 at 100% load.
    im gonna go to maplins and get all the bits for the mods and get this board sorted.
    what sort of volt should i set vmch too ? say 1.4v ??

    Could you specify that a bit more, please? I can't find any pin 6 on the pic in post 35 and I don't understand where the pin 9 is either.

    The pin numbers were with reference to post #104. Post #35/36 were just to show the read points.

    Vfsb is fine, but Vmch should be on the pin thats marked green. Its fine to use the same ground for both mods

    It should be between the MOSFET leg marked as 1.29v and the un-shaded (non-white) point (ground)
