    L628B e6400 1m pi @ 3.99ghz

Got this cpu from The Nemisis today. I didn't do a whole lot of testing before i lapped the cpu. I pretty much just tried booting to 4ghz. It did that but crashed in pi. Temps are also pretty high even on water. Here's some shots.

I think 3.6ghz blended prime stable is going to be my 24/7

It did just under 3.3ghz ghz @ 1.28v primed. But again temps were pretty high. As you can see 71c load @ 3.6ghz and only 1.37v AND lapped. But it is prime stable. I still think this means i have to pull the IHS off tonight!

Nice results. It's lapped and it runs at 1.36V/3.6ghz @ 71ºC?

I don't think you placed the HSF on correctly or it could be a faulty sensor.

no, i'm pretty sure its actually getting that hot. Got some more results

^This one i had to chop a little because i didnt have cpu-z open and it would be hard to see the clockgen

BBBUUUUTT!!!!.... I have to admit..... i cheated a little bit.... its about 12C outside, and i opened my window...... air going to my rad is ~ 16C...

But its still results. With its response to lower temps like this, there's no way the IHS is staying on now!

which one is slow? The 4066mhz was with 5-5-5-5 timings on the ram @ 508mhz. I can't seem to get any better regardless of voltage. There, it was @ 2.0v. @ 3.6ghz i can push the ram to 562mhz 5-5-5-5 @ 2.15v.

    I ran a 3d mark05 , and there was only 82 mark difference between 3.95ghz 508mhz 5-5-5-5, and 3.6ghz 562mhz 5-5-5-5. maybe i've hit my gpu bottleneck...?

Well, so this is called Xtreme Overclocking?
I have better time @ <4GHz on air, althought the frequency is pretty good .
    However, keep trying .

Yeah... but can you do this?

I pulled the IHS off and got this. Also got some 3.6ghz @ 1.36v prime stable. I got 3857mhz to last 30 mins with one core failing becuase of built up heat. 3920mhz lasted about half that for the same reason. I think if i could get a pa 120.3 i could do 3920mhz prime stable.

    Here's a little faster pi

What ram do you have though? I got mine for $160 and its a hella of a bang for the money, even though its 5-5-5-5

I lapped my storm, but it stll has some pretty heft nicks that would take removing ALOT of material to get out, so i'll just live with it. Also opened to windows again, but its only 21c tonight. I think i can call 3840 my 24/7. Could that be the highest e6400 prime on water?

    I'm running 2,4GHz @ 1,1V 24/7, 40°C @ 2xSP2004, so not as extreme .
menlatin, I'm not sure if my rig is capable to do this, but I will try to beat 14,5s for sure .
I have winter in Poland right now, ~5°C at night (and dropping ), so I think that only the 1,7V is limiting me (1,625V used for this score which I posted above), the temps are pretty good: <65°C all the time, ~52°C @ idle (it was on much higher ambient temp), of course it is impossible for me to make both cores work at the same time at such speed, but who cares .

I would not trust any of those temperatures much. Just swapping CPUs for me can easily change the temps 10+C sometimes, even with a perfect mount...

The probes are not calibrated or reliable.

i dont believe the asus probe temp, since my coretemp is lower. With my 1st de-lidded e6400, temps between the mother board utility and coretemp were about 11* after removing the ihs. Before, temps differed by about 3* but still higher on coretemp.

damn. My motherboard blows... I had a little more fun with ln2 and could only get 4058mhz prime (turned it off @ 10mins). The board simply does not want to do much over 500fsb. even the crashes that i get during prime testing are just black screens then reboots. We'll see 680i will do for me.

I didn't go with the the ln2 tube this time, just sprayed ln2 on my radiator
4079mhz failed after about 5 mins.

    here's screens.

pics of the ln2 on rad tonight.

I think with just a little bit of peltier power, this cpu can do 4ghz prime stable. The only problem is getting a rad that will handle the load. PA 120.3 is where its at.

    OH yeah, here's a cinebench @ 4ghz

ln2 on your rad? wont that freeze your coolant?

    Anyways nice.

these 628 b chips really are something special, seems you have one of the weaker ones and still 4ghz.

Well, i had a tube from the tank, and the valve just brealy open, so only a little bit of ln2 was coming out and spraying ont he fins. here's some pics

My coolant is about 15% antifreeze, and the water is moving by an mcp655. Moving water dont freeze.

Hey Revv, whats your max dual prime? And show me some dual 32m pi!

I wish i could get this boad to do over 510 fsb though. Even lower multi's, i can't post over 520, and can't boot over about 505. vmch up to 1.65 does nothing, and running 1.25v @ 4ghz

Why are the 1M times so slow? At 4ghz you should be well down in the 12's.

Next time i have a bench session ill do some dual 32m...should be able to run over 4... as for dual prime i dunno, you probably have me beat, i dont run above 3.6ghz for long term, just benching and then im back down...i dont like how hot things get.

edit - just re-read the thread, I can dual prime all day long 3.6ghz, i run 1.5v, but i never tried lower then that, right when i got the cpu i just went to 1.5v..so maybe i am ok.

has your cpu been lapped? i run orthos temps very similar to your only im on air and i have .2v more then you... with a nice water setup like yours you should be way colder, i would think about lapping if you havent already.

    Revv23 I think he's delidded.

I think maybe I should have tested all the cpu's before I sold 'em. Guess I got lucky with mine because I didn't lap or pop IHS and can still hit 4039 Mhz pi stable. My chip would do better in menlatin's hands. LN2? gonna have to read into this

E6400 has 2MB L2 cache. Can't compare the Pi results with 4MB CPUs. Also temperatures tend to rise linearly with frequencies. Lower Vcore will get you lower temps (especially at idle) but it still can't stop the temps that rise proportionately to frequencies.

    Awesome results, menlatin.

i have l629b chip. i think the temps on these chips are HIGH. i lapped mine today and it runs at 58 c idle. either that or my temp probes don't work since i dropped voltages and my temps are the same.

i'm going to pull the IHS off my crappy L629B today. Results will come tonight. Ppl keep lowballing me on the sale price, and i'd rather have some fun with it if i'm going to lose $60 for a cpu thats been used for 2 days.

Hmm no he is just lapped...

I dont know why you should have tested them, these are proven chps and every one that passed through your hands has hit 4ghz.

Im thinking about making a cheap dice pot for some fun but im not sure if my p5b is up for the task, i had trouble at 520 fsb before and im not sure if it was my mobo or my cpu. Either way im still waiting on my maximizer before i fire up again.

and right now priming @ 3900mhz 1.51v 18c ambient. Notice lowwr volts than 3840mhz @ 22c ambient. Also 3918mhz failed after 20 mins. Something on this board is heating up and kills my stability, i know it is. I put a fan bowing cool air on the mobo, and it primes higher. It may be my vregs, as they dont have any heatsink any more and get pretty hot to the touch. Probably going to order some swiftech's for them. This chip has more, I KNOW IT!!!
