Where are these BIOS revisions coming from? The latest I can see on the Asus sites is 0711?

...and scan.co.uk is meant to be good? well they're cc stinks like . Not even a good will gesture on their part or a "sorry" for the length they keep you going. You pay for good service, but noone ever provides it. - On the contrary overclockers.co.uk have always been fine. Only their packaging and prices (bar specials and a few things here and there) are crap imo.

I just returned a faulty P5W DH to overclockers and have been told to wait 28 days for replacement... yeah sure, as if i wont buy another in the meantime

I returned a PSU to scan last week and was given a new one straight away.

Another FSB Barrier here... 415 FSB ok even with auto on nb/fsb voltages, but 420 is a no go. Upping nb/fsb voltages doesn't seem to help
Any ideas ? Tried Bios 614, 711 and 801 till now. CPU is E6400, testing with 6x multi. Ram is Cellshock 1000 so it should run fine at 420. Hope anyone can help cause 3200 on an E6400 is not exactly what i expected

For example at 4.0 Windows reports 4.5, at 4.1 It reports 4.6 and when at 4.2 Windows reports 4.7?

I have done some searching and could not find any solutions .... Thx in advance

if using a lower multi than default windows still calculates at default multi for chip, eg., default 500x9=4.5ghz, if in reality using 500x8=4.0ghz windows will show 500x9 because it recognizes default multi.

my corsair pc8500 should have been fine until 530ish fsb 1:1 but one stick called it quits around 415ish FSB 1:1 while the other one happily marched on

If I was you I would lower the multi and test the ram with memtest86+ 1.65 and see if you are getting mem errors

have you tried cas 5: 5-5-12 or 15?

It could be the Corsair DDR800 (CL5), but the sticks run DDR-780 at 4-4-4-10, so hitting 820 with loose timings shouldn't be a problem.

I think I'll just set it to 8x375 and be happy with that, since it's quite fast but stays cool enough. I would appreciate your ideas about that FSB-barrier though...

Yes, even 6-6-6-18 and still no go. It must have something to do with the board. I expected to get around 3GHz for daily use (which I got), so I'm quite happy but this still bugs me...

I'm not speaking for Intel, just as an enthusiast.

There is only one 965P chipset. There are two steppings of it out there. C1 and C2.

C2 fixes a couple bugs that were in C1. But they aren't terribly critical bugs. They are both on a very mature process, so I doubt that there are any process differences between them.

just do a web search...you will find a "rar" extractor...they might want you to buy after "x" days but it continues to work after the trial period...you just have to put up with the message.

Good grief, just Google 7zip. Supports pretty much everything, and it's free.
