It looks like 4 rev H cores with L3 cache

I guess this rev of K8L won't use ZRam cause the L3 cache looks as big as the 4x512 L2 cache
It was supposed to have like 5 times the denisty of normal cache, so with this size it should be like.. 10MB

dual INDEPENDENT MCs? does this mean 2 64bit interfaces or 2x dual 64 bit interfaces

are we going to see quad channel memory with K8L?

ZRam will probably come later once the necessity to upgrade the L3 comes along, remember these quad cores are modular so changing this cache to ZRam is as easy as you can say Zeee


Independent memory controllers could only mean one thing, 2 128bit MC which will probably allow for dual channel memory with 2 DIMMs and quad channel memory with 4 DIMMs. Combine that with HT3.0 and you have one sick system bandwidth

I don't see why it cannot operate under single channel single MC. Except the fact that it would seriously bottleneck the thing.

Cumon wake up guys just look at the picture this obviously is a Quad core since its well known that the BARCELONA core is quad and AMD doesn't even have a single sample of Octal core CPU, its well documented in their roadmap that by the time octal cores are out they will have a completely new cpu core (2008/2009).
the article and pictures are about quad cores, not 8, not 16.

I'm pretty sure Perkam was either being ironic somehow or just wasn't paying much attention to the picture+article

IMO that sounds better than Yorkfields 12MB L2 cache with 2 cores sharing 6MB. Given that however, 12MB of L2 will put it ahead of K8L for virtualisation

Very true, but the seperate PLL's for each core and the memory controller means EVERY core can be clocked to its max and then you can max out your Memory overclock, doing max damage

Man I can't wait. Although I hear that gaming isn't really much better on quad core. But I'm betting that will change as it becomes more main stream, just as dual core has. Now just to hit the lottery.
