    Reservoir - your comments, thoughts

    I am working on a EK reservour and I do not know whet would be best thing to do. So here are 2 versions of reservoir.

    Material is acrylic tube 50mm.
    Black POM acetal for top and bottom.
    Sealing between tube and POM with O-ring.

    Please let me know what do you think and which ne do you prefer and why. What would you add etc...

    Neither... take bottom example... make it 3x barbs - 2 horizontal on base and the vertical one already there, and add another vertical in the opposing end. Provide 2x stoppers with it. Customer then can choose configuration.

    Avoid putting threads into acrylic tube... it'll put folks off due to the horrors of inferior acrylic products of the past that have tainted the way for any future products success imo. Keep the barbs on the acetal.

    Barb in top allows run up to fillport or similar. Barb in bottom allows convenient positioning with DDC Pump. 2x barbs horizontally in base allows for folks rith D5 or similar.

    Also allows use of top and bottom barb only for straight thru style design with tube laid horizontally, then can use one of the horizontal barbs up to a fillport.

    Barbs on the side would be a really nice option if you think about routing the tubing, yet as Marci says it's a real risk as the acrylic will likely crack sooner or later.
    One barb, centered on the top of the res, and 2-3 on the bottom (one with that little tube to shoot the bubbles away from the outlet) should be nice.

    S'not so much the risk that it will crack... I have faith Eddy would fabricate it so that it wouldn't... my doubts are in the public believing such. I strongly believe they're past the point of listening/believing when it comes to threading into acrylic these days and just stubbornly flop-down the blinkers and disregard the product.

    That's true. you're right about that. Still, I had and do have many acrylic parts. Never had any problems with small or thick parts, like tops on chipset blocks, pump tops or such. But I never had a tube res that didn't crack over the time (never lost any fluid, yet there were cracks). Don't know if it's because of the alcohol in WW or the material itself.

    I like the 1st version the most, then I would use the midle barb as an inlet and the barb on the underside as an outlet towards my pump. The fact that it doesn´t use any aluminium is a plus, because there are some other ´tube´ like reservoirs in the market that use aluminium.

    That wouldnt be ideal at all, a res like that needs to use the bottom one for inlet...

    I like the bottom one. it got the threads in the acetal...
    But ill still stick with a t-line...

    Marci's idea is pretty good, definitely the most versatile. I would be interested in one.

    Eddy, any idea on potential pricing on these yet (all of the styles), just rough estimate/range?

    Man, I'm in the market for a resevoir and just placed an order through you as I'm looking at the Alphacool ABG2 as it's the only one that I can find with barbs on opposite sides. But I'd prefer 1 barb at the bottom and 1 on the side like yours more. If yours was out now I'd choose option 1 or the 2nd Version for sure. I would have no bending on either of those for my loop.

    Hm... It should be very competitive compared to cape coolplex reservoirs.
    But I think I am not alowed here to say concrete numbers.

    yes barbs on the side is very helpful for routing. As matter of fact I've never seen a tube reservoir with side barbs that is not 90 degree angle. I've been waiting for something like this. Also if the cap is interchangeable and you can put barbs top/bottom for straight through style like Marci said would be awesome. I told alphacool about this as well but they said it was hard to put fill cap in the middle of the tube (which is true). But the horizontal style would look nice as well.

    Joining the acrylic to the copper would cause problems... mechanical seal (threaded) = different rates of expansion and contraction resulting in cracks at the threads (same problem Innovatek's reservoirs had - we had LOADS of customers moaning a year after they bought them that they were beginning to split at the threads).

    Better to stick to Acetal.

    Besides, nothing actively cooling the copper. Better a nonconductive material, otherwise you stick res near a heatsource, heatsource heats up copper endtanks which in turn gradually heats up the water.

    Not to mention what Marci said, but do you realize how HEAVY copper is? I have a brass res which is roughly the same size as an aquatube - it weight 5 pounds.

    I prefer the bottom design. I don't trust barbs in acrylic at all. I have had to literally glue mine on to the res I have now becauase you can screw them down nice and tight and they still somehow manage to work themselves loose moving the res into place. In my case I think they drilled out the hole for the fitting a little too large, causing it to work itself loose.

    What method would be used to secure that in place? It looks really nice though, I would be interested in one as it would free up space in the two bays the dual res I am using now occupies. I was looking around for something similar but nothing really stood out.

    It probably doesn't need to be that tall, and if you could tap the top with threads suitable for a DangerDen fill port that would be cool.

    make a POM bottom with a flat middle divider machined with it as 1 peice (like the round DD reservoirs), and have the barbs come out of one side of the bottom next to eachother (would require a flat to be machined out of the round base)



    middle divider between inlet/outlet like this (would be machined into the same peice as the base out of POM if possible)




    and barb placement at the base like this:
