this e6400 could definitely go a little further in oc and RAPE the 4400, not to mention the 4400 cant clock as well.

Yes thats true, i want a preview with the same mhz and ramclock. The amd and the intel can run higher

What?EE versions don't OC any better than the regular ones!They are more expensive because they work at lower (than usual) Votage.Get your facts str8.
As for OC,almost all RevF are nice OCers,especially 4200 and up.You can't hit 3Ghz+ on air,but you can pretty much hit 2.7-2.9,maybe even 3Ghz in some cases.

AMD is extremely viable option (especially for gaming which is more gpu than cpu bound) when you factor in mobo cost. But, if you clock each to its max stable on the same cooling, cd2 will pull away even further. One of the best things about c2d is that it forced amd to slash prices in half.

really nice review! shows that INTEL is faster clock per clock, but those 2k3, 2k5&5 scores were quite surprisng. with all that hype that buzzed around Conroe i thaught that INetl crushed AMD, but...life shows we still have competition

C2D does crush X2 except in GPU limited game benches. Compare a E6400 at a typical 3.2G OC to an X2 at a typical 2.8G OC with SLI or Crossfire and see how the picture changes.

If all you care about are games, keep your P4, A64 or whatever and spend all your upgrade money on vidcards.

last time I checked, the average person doesn't spend hours running benches and onyl cares if it is fast enough, not if it is in the top 1% of all systems

heck my Opteron 165(2.8+Ghz on stock voltage) system seemed a bit perkier than this c2d system. Might be harddrive performance though I came from a WD1500 raptor. but in the real world, while gaming and just day to day use, i dont' really see much diference.

and I was saying it was a viable option but not in all scenarios. If I had 6--$ to spend, I'd be leanign more towards x2 3800+ a 80$ board and some other midrange parts, not over the top, and a 250$ board. You have to realize, the total cost of ownership is not just the CPU, nor is performance.
