That's right, set your VR to 20k before soldering, because when you have solderd it you are not able to read the correct resistance, so you will not know if your VR is @ 20k or not. Once you have done the mod boot your pc. Maximum Bios value for your RAM's is 2,1V which is not a problem for any DDR2 Rams. I use 2,1V for 24/24 settings. By doing the mod with a 10k VR you will add less then 0,1V in top of that. This means that if you set your BIOS to 2V, you will get ~2,1V on your RAMs. If you take a 20k VR the difference between actual voltage and Bios voltage is even less.Originally Posted by remorema
How you set the value in value, that's something you have to decide for yourself, me puts it on 2,1V and for higher voltage I just have to tune my VR.
You could remove the mod everytime, but is it really such a big problem to have one extra cable in your case?
