    Another dead DDC Pump

    Hi,

Was bleeding my loop (see here... http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=116288) and less than 15 min. into it, one of my pumps died... simply wouldn't start. The loop had lots of coolant in it (as well as major tiny air bubbles) so it wasn't run dry by any means.

FWIW the dead pump came from Performance PC's (in August). My other pump came from Jab-Tech.

I looked at the circuit board, no obvious signs of damage, shorts, or smell of anything burnign, just dead!

    What a PITA!

I accidently ran mine dry for about 3 seconds wouldn't start after that.

Flooded it with coolant and starting beating it in a fit of rage, and well, it started again. Makes a different noise when a bubble goes through it now, or maybe it's just the new loop/coolant.

I made it clear to Hank at PPC that I was displeased about this and he agreed to refund it. I didn't want another potentially bad pump coming back. I'm going to buy another brand new one through DangerDen instead.

I dont see how its PPC'c fault (they dont make the pump) lanning sent bad(batch) pumps to everyone, not just PPC
maybe its because PPC moves more pumps than others

I don't think it's PPC's fault if you buy a pump and it fails... that could happen with any retailer. But some folks have reported they send used/refurbished pumps out as RMA replacments.

After so many of these DCC's have gone down mine included, some taking out hardware (Mine included), I'm seriously considering changing pump ... Or buying a laptop and leaving overclocking.

I don't have the money to throw out the window because of unreliable pumps anymore.

Thermal watch dog system that kills the PC, you can make them, it is a thermister and a threash hold com, place it at the hottest part that is water cooled, so if it gets to hot it shuts down the machine
