'scuse the OT but we've been fighting for extra fsb for a while now.
no matter what we did including a decent vmch mod would let us 1M over 505fsb.

is conroe's fsb wall dependant on something the community knows about? like less ram, runnung in odd coloured ram slots, vcca vmod, psu rail tweaks, using the full 8pin cpu power supply instead of just 4pins?.... or anything else?

Have you tried raising southbridge voltage to the max (1.8v)? This has helped some people.

thanks yes we have tried everything short of unknown vmods.
we even succesfully booted at 501fsb and can 1M consistently at 505 but not 506....not sure where 32M breaks down but definately more like 480fsb. (not ram as that is team1000 d9gmh and does 550 4-4-3, 2.3vdimm)
also we have yet to try the latest bios but havn't reall heard anyone succeed by going up from 507.

Been testing the P5W64-WS Pro. Different type of board than the P5B Dlx. Better top speed, but not as high FSB. Depends on what you prefer.

    P5B Dlx

    P5W64-WS Pro

FSB on P5W64-WS Pro maxes out around 470, give or take a few MHz.

Thanks. Still a lot of testing to do. My X6800 does 4.1GHz on the P5W64-WS Pro with a lot less voltage. Barely could hit 4.0GHz with the P5B Dlx. In that sense, I like the P5W64-WS Pro better, though the P5B is still a fun board.

Don't worry. Your 1M time is still better than mine, for now.

This is the best 975X board I've tested. 470FSB with no mods.

Rol-Co and a few others have done 500+ FSB with modded 975X boards. At some point I'll stick my E6400 in the board. Not a great chip, but might be able to improve on CPU speed over what I got with the P5B Dlx.

Yeah, its actually surprising we don't see more...some of the Bad Axes were especially strong in FSB IIRC. I suppose what I meant was without any extreme cooling on the NB.

    Nice mobo for FSB indeed

As you can see, is easy to reach 560Mhz FSB on the P5B Dlx - this with a mobo without any mod, I even did not put AS5 on chipset or remove the plate of chipset cooler, a silent 120mm fan pointing to the chipset is enought, this to maintain noise level quite low since the Prometeia fans are in low speed

@ 555Mhz FSB even runs the good old Hexus PiFast

Very nice job with unmodded board there Pedro How is the 3D speed at those clocks?

If you got some bandwidth numbers (Sandra / Everest) please share them HERE

No change log yet. At this point I would not expect any significant performance improvements. Asus has fixed most of the major issues and the board is capable of doing well beyond 500 FSB.

has anyone here on XS already tried putting NB under phase?
that should give that FSB some boost!

I tried the 0706 bios and managed to get a few more MHz on the FSB (539). But overall, I think I like 0614 better.

    Change log for 0706

    1 Enhance CrossFire performance.
2 Enable NVIDIA 7950GX2 display under crashfree mode
3 Fix CPU frequency not correct when use ES CPU and lock free fuction enable
4 Fix memory display message not correct under multi-language
    5 Add Kentsfield B3 uCode

Put my Vapochill to work again. The board is not modded. NB has not been touched. Was able to do 565X8, but screenshot did not come out right, probably because the system was on the edge of stability. 558X8 gave the fastest time (with FSB above 500).

    Need more VCore.
