    Older x4800 OEM

    Chance to pickup, some code
    CCWE 0522TPMW
I read older chips tend to be better overclockers is this true?
Being an OEM make any difference?
    Thanks

Second that, mine 3800+ x2 does 2800 safely, but can go higher, even up to 2900mhz, but I don't think it's safe, I've even had it up to 3ghz, but then it instantly rebooted in windows after 30seconds or somewhat Just managed to get a cpu-z validator for it... check it out http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=109050

Mine will do 2800,2860, & 2890mhz with 5 incremental bumps to the HTT
ex. 250,255,260 on air with XP120.
2890 is to unstable right now without future ram tweaks

I can't help but notice that your cpu actually is a 4800+ x2, mine's a 3800+ x2 and does as well as yours. It must be that mine wasn't tested as well as yours leaving the factory, because it does EXCACTLY the same, on air and water, I just got myself a DFI LANPARTY UT CFX3200-DR, and I must say, it's INSANE to see the difference, my old ABIT AN8-32X did well on clocking the cpu, but not on ram, now I see the difference on the workout I can give my cpu when the ram equally goes up , but DAMN it's hot, I couldnt even take them out without burning my fingers before I stuck a 120mm sunon upon them Either way, I moved all the way up from asus a8r-mvp, to an8-32x and now with my dfi lanparty it seems that my chain of command did me well, cause i learned alot burning out the two previous boards and the lanparty is way more advanced than both the two before

I think for us both that 2.8ghz on this cpu is within the "safe" limit without burning it up, mind you, without phase-cooling or a waterchiller I have mine on 1.4 or 1.45 volts, don't quite remember, i'm on my laptop now, but it should be safe, read somewhere else on xtremesystems forums that one of these died on 1.5 or 1.55, so where i am today should be safe

What volts do you have your running on?

With slight voltage bump for stability mine idles around 32c-34c which I think is great on air, so I'm happy with 2800mhz 24/7

I'm happy with the 2.8 ghz too, but I had to adjust it some cause of my ram and cpu wasn't happy with going 1:1, so I had to set my multiplier down to 9x and htt up to 305, going 2750 mhz now, but my pc4000 ram is now at it's stock 500mhz, and I'm not complaining with a 50 mhz loss on my cpu, my ram can go all the way up to 580mhz since it's samsung uccc chips on them, but I don't like it since it gets quite hot then, have a 120mm sunon fan blowing on the ram allready

And by the way, my volts are set for 1.425 in bios for cpu. Had to check it and say it here
