Great, so now I have to pout and wonder what I'm missing out on my Rev 1.
Where do i go for a new I/O plate? Accidently ripped my when taking out.
Also if zip-tie my fan to my northbridge and it says zip-ties can do upto 80c would it last at around 45-55c 24/7 for years to come?
hi,
I can't get to start my 965p-s3 with 2x1gb patriot PDC22G6400LLK. Mobo keeps rebooting every few seconds. Starts fine if I put some cheap memory into the 1st slot and then it shows that it runs on 533mhz.
I've tried to increase Dimm voltage while booted in working memory configuration, and then reboot only with those patriot DImms - same story.
Looks like as soon as the motherboard sees changed memory configuration, it resets my settings and after that it can't get it to start.
I'm trying to figure out if they just don't like eachother (FAQ says that the symptoms of mobo not liking memory) or something is wrong with either motherboard or dimms. I'm curious if it's "dislike" case - perhaps, something that gigabyte is able to fix in future bios releases...
anyone experienced the same? any ideas?
what bios version are using?its useful to put it in your sig..

Having an issue with my DS3.
Flashed to F5, but still showing as F3 in everything, strange, or do you reckon it didnt take the flash for some reason? (official F5 from Giga website)
I have had it running @3.2, did some benchmarks etc. Now rebooted, but screen stayed black. It rebooted itself a couple of times, but no dice. Still black screen.
Looks like I'm gona have to reset CMOS, which is a pain because I'll have to remove my vid card.
Also, when changing DDR voltage, does it add the amount to 1.8v, i.e if I chose +.02, it will give 2.0v?
Sorry if its already been answered, cant find any info. Oh yeah, Yellow or red DIMM slots, any advantage to using either?

HEy, dublin gunner my ds3 is showing F3 in windows but in bios it shows F5. Yup thats how ddr voltage works.
Hey guys, didnt want to make a new thread but here goes:
Im running into an FSB wall @ 370 fsb... it is 100% stable here, but when i go to 380 fsb the pc will just lock up and sometimes reboot.
Here are my specs:
E6400 (tried 2 of these, also tried multis 6-8x, vcore 1.3-1.5v)
DS3 (tried bioses F1, F2, F3, F4, F5 and several betas in between)
OCZ pc6400 plats 2x1gb (rev 1) (have also tried micron value ram)
x1900xt (tried 6800gt, x1300 pro)
thermaltake toughpower 750w (also tried other psus)
In the bios i also disabled legacy usb, EIST and all that
Has anyone here been at a wall at about the same speeds and found a way around it?
Thanks
Have you set the pci-e to 100Mhz?

Crankybugga, what sort of temos are you getting on idle/load with 1.475?
I'm a little reluctant to start cranking the voltage past 1.4 until the AS5 set in..

I've got a question for you guys: I bought a DS3 myself this week and i've put an E6400 on it. With the cooler it came with (Intel BOXed) the BIOS reports a 42-43 degrees celsius CPU temperature. Is it normal?
What for temperature get you with CoreTemp ?Originally Posted by GRIP

My damn DS3+E6300(@3.3)+X850XT PE config refuses to work at 16x PCIE. It always is set to 1x. Verified by rivatuner/ati tray tools/sandra. Setting PCIE freq to 105 in bios doesn`t help. Has anyone overcome this? I think this problem is the root of my low 3dmark05 score - just 6k when overclocked (and other 3dmarks also).
I'm making progress.
One thing I have noted though. The NB heatsink is totally inadequate. I tied a 60mm fan on it, and it now stays cold to the touch, and I've had no re-boots or stability problems since. (I had to 'ghetto' the lead into a 4 pin molex though, have it @12v, gonna change it to 5v should be plenty to keep it cool)

for some reason, when I use vdimm over 2.1V, in PC Health Status section of the BIOS it shows "DDR18V: FAIL"
this only happens with VDIMM over 2.1V. Anyone else experience this?

That is perfectly normal. In fact it is not normal to show OK there if you`re using 2.1V instead of 1.8 but that`s our DS3. It just does so.Originally Posted by Drozdov

I like your approach thereOriginally Posted by Crankybugga
. Let me get it straight though--a couple of questions:
1. That heatpipe from the NB went to the Southbridge before modding?
Or have you re-engineered your NB heatsink and inserted a new heatpipe?
2. Has the other end of the heatpipe been inserted through the fins of the TTBT? If so, did you simply drill through the fins and insert the heatpipe? ...depending on above, drilled through NB heatsink too?
3. Have you used anything (glue, solder, etc) to affix the heatpipes to their counterparts?
Actually, looking at the picture again I can see some of the answers, but if you don't mind, please humour me. I can see potential for more innovative mods coming my way![]()
Cheers
ps. for an 'as yet untested' mod to improve chipset cooling, interested people might like to see my prototype HSF Duct Mod (DQ6/TTBT): http://www.gam.net.au/dq6-ttbt/duct.htm, for discussion go here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=114323

Im cooling it with a CM hyper48, with a delta fan on it, i get 20 degrees idle and 40 degrees load. It also cools the chipset heatsink really well.
I think its a bios setting or something to do with it not properly setting the NB strap, since most problems happen at ~360-399 fsb for other people. Setting 400 or 401 fsb is simply a no go, most of the time i can post but it will restart as windows is loading.
Any ideas?
contect gigabyte technical support, and explain the problem to them. The more of us write to them, the bigger possibility, that they will slove the problem. Many people have had the same problems with theit graphics cards working using x1 link mode, including me and my 7900GT.Originally Posted by tresis
