I have worked with DFI over the last year. If this guy is in tech support in the US they very well might not have a chip. Most Asian based tech companies run their US branches like a separate company. Many times they are treated like a third party distributor than an office branch. I know that at least one company that is popular "sells" their motherboards to the US branch. Accounting, sales and tech support are all separate from the parent company.

With DFI USA and Crossfire they did not have two videocards at the beginning to test with. I had to provide them with feed back which was passed to Taiwan to generate a fix. I was much of the US testing at the time.

Even in big companies like NVIDIA, ATI, AMD, and Intel some departments can not get their own product quickly. So it could be legit that DFI USA will not give a chip to DFI-street. They might not have one or only have one......
