Okay I just found out what the problem is. Here is what I did in chronological order.
1. Turned off switch on power supply. Unplug power supply and everything else.
2. Take out 1 stick of memory and reset cmos and plug the computer back in.
3. Computer booted up fine with 1 stick.
4. Turn the computer off and put stick into 4th slot(maybe the third slot was dead) reset cmos and turned it back on only to have the same problem as before.
At this point I figured my memory stick was dead, but I went ahead and put it into the 2nd slot beside the 1st stick which gives me non dual channel, but guess what. I reset cmos and it booted up fine.
So I guess dual channel just doesnt work anymore on my board. I am not overclocking everything is at default speeds right now. Im on bios 714 right now. So not only does raid 0 not work but now I cant get my 2 sticks of 1gb to work in dual channel.
Although I got pretty decent overclocks out of this board and it is pretty fast in general, not being able to get raid 0 and dual channel working along with false temp and volt readings is not worth owning this board too much longer. I think I'm going to wait for prices on the asus boards to go down and pick up a SLI board this fall. I'm sure on down the road MSI will have some better bios out that fix alot of these issues but by then other succesful board makers will have released their newer, better boards or revisions of their old boards and MSI will again find itsself lagging behind in this particular market. And thats my 2 cents

You didnt need to go through all those steps - there are boot issues with this mobo (especically when using ram mulitpliers other than 1:1) - All I need to do is flick the switch on the PSU and press my case start button - leave it 10 secs and turn it all back on. If this doesn't work a cmos reboot does the job nicely.Originally Posted by mdavis166

Also there are problems with temp and volt readings - the ONLY program that I have found to display anything near realistic temps and voltage is DualCoreCenter - it sucks to O/C but it does report correctly.
ditto on the v and temp reporting. I have been using core temp and it seems to be doing a accurate job.

Can someone please tell techies at MSI to put function of down clocking cpu multi hopefully in next bios ?
I could do that on my Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6, but not on this mobo.
It would be nice.![]()
Signature? are you kidding? with new stuff coming out every day, why bother ?
I got my new 975X PowerUp Edition ( change DQ6 & DS3 ) and hmmm is ok. Stock bios (no update ) and no problem with FSB 400MHz & E6600![]()
Already I test only 3D2k1 with FSB 400 and is ok
My DQ6 won't running on 400MHz ( 380MHz ) max stable![]()
SLI work ok ( dual 7300GT DDR3 from Galaxy )
Score is only only from overclocked CPU, gpu on stock.
Oh divider 4:5 work too.
Oh - vmod guide for this mobo it exists ? Somebody can post link too.
Thank's

I'm currently working on that one with MSI, but the Europe techies need a proof (Will make some pictures of GB BIOS) that that same thing works on the GB Board...Originally Posted by IluvIntel

I don't think anyone has unlocked multi for 975x yet do they?
Have you tried this BIOS out? By the numbering, this seems to be the latest Beta...I will try it out...can't hurt at this point.Originally Posted by TodB

Yeah.... on my system it alters the memory settings from 3-3-3-8 (in BIOS) to 3-5-6-8 by itself... and I got stability, but....will report to MSI about the "cheating"

I tried out the new bios. Absolutley nothing has changed. No new options, the reboot issues are still there to remind you about your money wasted, I still have to use 2.4 volts on my ram to have it stable, and mt boot screen is still corrupt (unless its supposed to be green and purple). I will never buy another MSI product unless it has a whole lot of positive reviews. Its a shame because this board is very fast compared to others. PLEASE fix these problems msi.

2nd, why don't you create a signature so we can see actually what kind of ram you are running. I've tested 3 different sets of ram, 2 2x1gb sets and a 2x512 and both did 400 1:1 with 2.1v or less.

I do have the boot screen disabled, but what am I to think when 8 new bios are release and such a minor issue hasn't been corrected? No need to change my sig, I thought it could be whatever I wanted it to be. If not, please someone correct me. I run my ram at 360mhz 3 3 3 10 and was stable in orthos for 8 1/2 hours at 2.3v. I updated to 716 and the reboot and stability issues reared their ugly head. Even if I flash back, the problems persist. my e6700 is watercooled and stays at 59c under load 1.48v at 3.61ghz. I somehow can feel negativity and people thinking they're superior to others in all forums. It seems to be the norm. Instead of wasting your life to bother me about my sig, you could have just asked. Now go ahead and read my sig, see that it relates to our little conflict.

How are you flashing? If using dos make sure you use these commands, awfl865 W7246IMS.XXX /py/sn/wb/cc/cd/cp/f/r.....don't forget the wb as it updates the bootblock and can make all the difference.
Also your ram timings are very tight, I will politely ask again what ram are you trying to run at 3-3-3? There's lots of ram that can run those speeds with low volts but not all especially on this board.
Try the new 7.21 beta.

For those using sata, did you mess with sata port speed settings? You can select Force Gen 1, 2 or keep it to disabled? It's under the sata devices configuration menu.

They run at 4-4-4-12 1T and at 400/800MHz. I was hoping that since my I'm slowing down the clock speeds by nearly 80mhz, that I could up the voltage and tighten the the timings. Well I got what I wanted but at 2.3-2.4 volts. No hard feelings RacerX, just that over the years forums have become pretty childish, and with that state of mind that I carry, I wrongfully apply that to everyone.I apologize.

Well the new beta bios seems to have fixed some of the cold boot issues as I can now boot at 400x8 on a more consistent basis. It will warm boot as well at those speeds. Only problem is that I can't boot at 440x8 now no matter what I do, whereas I could get it to warm boot and run dual Prime no problem with the 7.15 bios. Aarggh. I hope MSI fixes these issues soon.

At stock the board is as solid as it gets, I truely believe when we're trying to get the most out of our ram and cpu is when the boot issues starts.Originally Posted by Sumanji
Also for those using the 4.21 check out TodB post a few above about the ram timings. Seems when I set my timings at 4-4-3-8 it boots up at 4-5-6-8 according to cpu-z and Memset. Though use Memset to lower back to 4-4-3-8 and still stable at 400 with only 1.95 v.
hotrodtheman, those being cas4 sticks I doubt Corsair test them for cas3 setting though sometimes companies will rate their cas3 and cas4 speeds. Nothing a fan couldn't help with at 2.3v.

TodB, don't worry so much about ram speed as the performance diff is negligible. I have been telling everyone for some time that lower ram speed and tight timings are just as good if not better to use just as it was on a A64. It's not the same as it was on a P4 rig where memory bandwidth ruled. Running 1:1 with tight timings is the way to go.
