    Leadtek 7900GS

    My new toy arrived today

    Leadtek 7900GS 256MB. 450MHz/1330MHz

    7900gs box2.jpg
    7900gs card.jpg

First result with default cooler and no mods. 580MHz core 1480Mhz mem.

    kellot.JPG

This result is not very good, because there is some driver issues or incompability with Gigabyte DS4.

    More results later.

    System:
    Gigabyte DS4
    E6400 @ 3.4GHz
    Teamgroup ram @ 5-6-6-15 (425Mhz)
    Driver 91.45

Very nice. I'm not going to expect 10k because I only have a single cored venice @ 2.5GHz, and I'm too lazy to up it to 2.8GHz for some benching.. but I cant wait to get my card under water.

    7900Gt has 24 pipes.
    7900GS has 20 pipes.

they got about the same clocks but the GS seems to be some 40 euro cheaper in europe (dunno price diffrence in US).
and last week woot.com had a sale were the GS was like 130/140 dollars orso.

Yep but the memory isn't what is limiting the performance. The core is . Maybe there is a pencil vmod for the core of this card?

    You can do this:

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...=94177&page=26

    (post 640, lower pic)

I will do 1.3V or 1.4V mod tonight.

    Default Vcore is 1.2V

    Lower picture : Post 640

    red 1.25
    yellow 1.30
    red + yellow 1.35
    Purple 1.40
    purple + red 1.45
    purple + yellow 1.50
    purple + red + yellow 1.55

So all points connected = 1.55V

I just connected D511 (purple) to ground and it give 1.4V
    It's easy, trust me

You have to connect them totally, so use conductive paint or something similar.

This card is unbelievable. Price ~190 € (or lower)

    Game results 650/1800:

    Ghost Recon AW (with fraps):

    2006-09-05 20:37:05 - GRAW
    Frames: 18995 - Time: 378356ms - Avg: 50.204 - Min: 29 - Max: 73

Fear 1280x960, 4AA/ 16AF, all max, soft shadows on:

FEAR 1280x960 all max ss on.JPG

I could test this card in "low end" pc if someone is interested. (DFI ultra-d, AMD 64 3200+ 1GB BH-5)

Sadly, no. It's just a 7800GT with a shrunken die.. hence its overclockability and good performance. The 7800GT was and always will be a champ imo, but the 7900GS really tops it for the money.

Nice! Let us know your experiences when you get that.

I'm still using default cooler with 1.4V. Idle temperature is 55 -->load ~70.

    OC: 670 / 1850

Next move: Watercooling and more voltage
