Patriot pc-5300 LLK

Just got this yesterday and have been playing with it and my e6400/ds3 since

It seems like this board is really holding me back, and it seems fairly unstable when trying to get high ram clocks

Here's a couple screens. one is ddr 800 3-4-3-4 2.1v, the other ddr 1000 4-5-4-10 2.1v. I could not get get much over 1000 stable, but that may be becuase i can't get the ds3 to give me s stable 2.2v. Half the time it boots haf the time it doesn't, but it boots with 5-6-6-18 timings, so i know theres more in there. Anyways, here;'s what i've gotten so far.





Not bad for $160 AR. I hope RD600 will really bring this to life.

I have this ram too, currently at 868MHz (434x2) at 4-4-4-12 at 2.1v. Still pushing it though.

Hi!

It seems hard to believe that Patriot 5300 LLK can reach 400MHz cas3 w/ only 2.1v. It's not the first time I see something like this under a Gigabyte motherboard. That reminds me the Bad Axe bug with 1333 strap.

I'd like to see them under a DFI Infinity 975X/G or an ASUS P5WDH Deluxe motherboard, which are reliable motherboards for testing RAM.

My sticks have to be set at 5-5-5-15 to get even to 1.9v 390mhz-ddr2780 running at 3.12ghz at 1.3825vcore. That the most stable I can get. anything higher I get errors in Orthos. Idle temps are 36c for CPU. It's a E6400 on a DS3 board.

EDIT:

Got them to 401 FSB: DDR2802 on 2.0v at 4-5-4-15 for 3.2ghz fully stable at 1.4250vCore. CPU temp is still 36c Idle/50+ Load.

This is what you'll see in memset, expect the MSI to be alot tighter and not as forgiving. With my e6400 I could run 4-3-3-8 but now with my e6600 only stabe at 4-4-3-8 with my Patriot PC8000XBLK 2x512.

yeah, the stock volts are 1.8v, meaning fat overhead with more voltage...

depends on the voltage, but i doubt it will. might wanna loosen the timings if you have to though

Obviously, they didn't perform very well on the MSI. Hard board to get memory to work properly even for the hardcore.

Oh hey, i guess i never got to back with that. I didn't get to do a whole lot of testing, but they did do 860 5-5-5-16 1.9v. That was just stock boot up timings though.

I dont think i'm going to be doing much more testing with the msi. I'm going to get another ds3 this morning though.

Can you do cas 3 ddr2 667 with that ram ? How low can you go at pc2-5300 at around 2.0v ?

What color are your PCB's guys? I've got a black pair that'll do 900MHZ (so far) 5.5.5.15 @ 2.1VDimm and a green pair from the egg that just flat out sucks.

Ok, so i'm looking at my ram today, and i notice something wierd about my heat spreaders.... They look warped...? wtf? I hold them up to the light and i can see light between ALMOST ALL of the chips on one side and thermal tape! The other side only has a couple chips that dont have contact. I checked my other stick and its the same way. One side has most the chips, and the other just the 2 chips on the edges!
I pressed the heatspreaders down, and they stick, but its not going to last, especially when they are warped and pulling them selves away.

I'm going to give patriot a call about this today.

Mine do that too. I think the tape Patriot uses are cheap and ineffective. These heatspreaders are too nice to be tained with ineffective tape.
