    You will most likely need it if you ever use S3 sleep/resume else you may be able to get away with the default XP drivers. I am using the latest JMicron drivers on my P5W without any problems, it's a good bridge chipset for ATAPI despite what others may say -seen much less incompatibilites compared to other chipsets.

    The other thing to remember is to deactivate power saving options (viz. ALPE/ASP) under the BIOS/SATA else things may lag too.

    Mind telling where I find those (or equivalent) in the DS3 bios please.

    sorry, for that you will prob. need a DS3 owner to come along and help out cos I own only the Asus P5W and P5B mobos. Dropped by this thread hoping to help someone avoid potential problems cos I was in the same mess when I did not install the JMicron drivers, was hoping to make do with the default XP ones.
