Uh, search around better, I had this question before I got my rig and found my answer by myself.

Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400 2GB Kit DDR2-800 XMS2-6400
That ram booted for me with 1 / 2 sticks and default bios settings, although it was about $20 cheaper when i bought it too

Maybe I was lucky but my $130AR 2GB kit of OCZ EL Platinum XTC PC6400 boots fine on my DS3 with F1, F4C and F4 in dual channel @1.8V using spd timings and is Orthos lg FFT stable at 800/4-4-4-12 @2.0V.

Etc.
can anyone possibly give me a list of the possible rams, i've spent a lot of time looking for parts its easier to compare them if they happen to be in a list
dude what more do you want? no one here is gonna help if you want everything on a silver platter. you have to put in effort too. Charloz, Numbers, and Fred gave you some choices. now draw your own conclusions as to what you want and make your own list.
well i wanna know wat ram ppl who hav had success used or if they've heard anything cause from wat i've heard the ds3 is really picky, its not like im not looking i just simply wanna find as many options as possible, 2 answers is helpful but im simply wondering if other ppl hav any other info
mayb i phrased that other one wrong

thats true but i guess evry1 is slightly confused and doesnt wanna risk messing up, im gonna try to create a list of rams but it may not work out
Good luck wit.dat. My OCZ ELP XTC PC6400 boots up in dual channel mode at 1.8V with spd timings and does 4-4-4-12 @2.0V. Many others with the same ram can't post at 1.8V even with only one stick installed. IMO there's a bit of luck involved with ram, same as with cpus. They are not all created equal.

do u think it would b better to try to get a list of rams that dont work that are at the 1.8v/ cause i think i've heard of a few that hav problems w/the ds3 other than the voltage and thats where its more necessary as opposed to just checking if ram is above 1.8v or not before buying it
G.Skill 6400-2GBHZ
that may b above my price range unfortunately

A lot of people have a lot of opinions. I keep hearing about how my ram doesn't work well with the DS3 but it works fine for me. This is the only ram I've used on this DS3 so I can't comment on other ram options. I suggest that you ask around and look for a deal on some PC6400 that uses 2.0V or less. C2D isn't very sensitive to timings so whether or not to pay a premium for slightly faster 4-4-4-12 vs 5-5-5-15 is entirely up to you. Good luck.Originally Posted by witter365
