    Eye Candy: Asus P5WDG2-WS Professional

Got my board in the other day from Ewiz.com, and thought I'd show if off a little bit...

no true results yet, as all I have in it is my 920 Presler until I can afford me a E6400 or E6700, but I will tell you that its good to be on Asus again! I was so tired of running the 920 on my Intel Bad Axe 302 board.

Nice board, I have it received yesterday.
I'm testing it right now, with my vapochill LS

Does your mainboard came also with nothing under it, to protect the back.
    Only some cardboard.

Are those PCIX connectors? What makes this board "professional" ?

    the "X" following the "pci"...
    jokes aside
those that own a pci-x controller can surely appreciate it
(i'm still waiting the damn mobo to arrive in Greece)
let's hope that Asus won't let us hanging with the next gen chipsets
and continues producing workstation boards with pci-x
(sticking with a not so commonly found interface is seriously limiting our choices)

Ok i have to ask a newbie question.

How DO you put a PCI/33 card into a PCI-X slot? it looks like the connector is reversed...how would it even fit ?

    How 'bout a 56K warning...
I believe the board is 300.00+ and we've all seen pics... How 'bout providing some numbers that justify the price, I know I'd be interested.... We can see the noob stuff at [H]...

I never understood things like that. I have seen similar seemingly missplaced mottos and sayings on other technology equipment. It is almost as if the original phrase was written in Chinese or something and the real intent or meaning was lost in translation.

Maybe the original meaning was something along the lines of inducing a heart palpatation (such as you would have when getting excited)?

ok first results with my presler:

on my bad axe 302, i was able to run 4.22ghz 14x301 (13% OC from 267 bootstrap) with 1.4250v to keep it stable, with the ram at 784 4:5 @ 5-3-3-8 with 2.1v

now with the same chip, ram, etc. on the p5wdg2-ws pro, i can run 4.20ghz (14x300) w/ 1.400v and its even more stable than the baxaxe was with less voltage... and ram is now running 800 3:4 @ 4-3-3-8 w/ 2.1v - tighter timings and higher frequency with the same voltage and same stability

not to mention on this board, the vcore has yet to drop below the set voltage in BIOS thank you 8 stage goodness!

the 965 chipset allows it but i guess the 975 does not unless you have a 6800.

EDIT:..before i get slammed..the 975 allows it..the bios is the device that is not allowing it..."get-rrr dune" Asus

Someone else asked, but I don't think it was answered. What is the diffence between the PRO and not PRO boards of the same model? Is it just that the PRO is the European version?

The Pro version supports Conroe processors. The non pro does not.

the pro version simply supports C2D & kentsfield cpus
and has one less sata port on the marvell controller
    and one more firewire port
it also features copper heatpipe chipset cooling

    edit:vmsein 1min faster...
