[Q] Asus P5B Deluxe Wi-fi Temp measuring problem?

Yesterday, I got Asus P5B Deluxe Board. I've found strange problem on temp measuring by on-board chipset.

By default, CMOS(Hardware Health) told that CPU temp was 59C and system was 38C. I've changed CPU cooler by Scythe Ninja+. But, CPU temp was at same level, but system was down to 35C.

At now, I'm strongly doubt about some problem of temp gauging. I suspect that temp of CPU and system should be mutually exchanged.

Is this problem only for my P5BD? Anyone has gone through this kind of problem on this board. If so, some fixes on bios is needed.

Yep, it is known that P5B Deluxe has some problem with the sensor, its way off.

Mine, with D805 stock speed !

See loaded at 72C and wasn't throttling yet ! The same CPU at other board was only 55C loaded.

I guess we'll have to wait next Bios fix huh ?

My P5W DH under reads by -10'c.
My DS4 is spot on

I think the Asus boards use some form of thermistor to get the temps instead of querying the cpu.

Asgard, how do you know or sure that your DS4 is at correct temp ? By dedicated temp probe ?

Same issue here with my P5B Deluxe running 502. With the stock cooler I was getting temps of 49c idle and 71c under dual prime95 and the same temps when I switched to an XP90.

My P5W DH under reads by -10'c.
My DS4 is spot on

I think the Asus boards use some form of thermistor to get the temps instead of querying the cpu.

Are these values done in relation to Coretemp? Curious where they come from.

Whats the best way to read an accurate temp with one of these boards then. Mine comes Wednesday, so I wanted to know. Thanks.

I wish I knew. I'd also like to know where to measure the actual voltages with the DMM on the motherboard.

Yep, same with me. Though at stock speeds the temperature did not rise past 63c.

Right now I am trying out AI NOS at 2447 and Orthos Beta CPU stress test has it stuck at 67c. I think the mobo temp might be accurate, I am getting 30c and the heat pipes are pretty warm.

At 2.7ghz the other day it was running as high as 74c with no errors. I only ran it for 10 minutes though since I had no idea whether those temps were accurate.

Still, this sucks, I don't want to go to 3ghz until I know for sure.

I have P5B Deluxe WiFi mobo and have same problems... But i use everest 3 ultimate to measure the temp... There are two seperate temps for each core

I did 2700mhz on my e6400 last night night and watched the thermal throttle kick in with Everest at 84c from Asus Probe. It is supposed to kick in at 85c.

From that I have to say my temps are probably accurate. These are hot chips and I am on stock cooling. Be careful!

84c is pretty hot. With stock cooling and at 3ghz I pull 74c at maximum, and it's the same with my Thermalright XP90. The weird thing is that my heatsink isn't even warm to the touch, but I've verified it has good contact with the heatspreader.

So nobody knows where to read voltages via a multimeter? I'd like to know how accurate these sensors are

I have the same problem with the high temperature with my ASUS P5B deluxe..

After i reinstall the heatsink fan, the temperature go down eventually...from 72c to 40-44c.There is instruction provided by ASUS in the manual. Read before you install.
