Stability Issue (large FFT) - e6300, DS3, OCZ pc6400 Platinum

System is 10 hours small fft orthos stable and multiple runs of super pi 32M stable. Games are stable, but havent had any extended (> 3 hours) sessions.

Can't get past like 20 minutes of Large FFT orthos? It fails everytime.

    Temps are 46 load.

Chip is @ 2.8, Fsb is 400, ram is set to 5-5-5-15 and + .3v. All stock volts on everything else.

    Any ideas?

    UPDATE:
Put new Corsair PC6400 5-5-5-12 Ram in and it is stable now. Must have been the ocz ram.

I've heard that the ds3 has some ram compatibility issues, you might want to look that up.

    any other opinions.

By the way orthos blend test runs 10 hours no errors.

Large FFTs put's stress on the memory and FSB as well as producing maximum heat so if you're not failing Small FFT's i would be looking at the FSB/Memory. Have you run Windows Memtest to test the memory? See if you can pass 1,000% of Windows Memtest. You will need to run two iterations and set each to like 800MB since it looks like you have 2 gigs of RAM.

OK, passed memtest overnight. Passed sp2004 blend test overnight.

Tried upping the mch by .1, still fails large fft
Tried upping the fsb by .1, still fails large fft

Will try upping pci-e, fsb, and mch all by .1 and see if it will pass.

Also I ahve virtualization enabled, does that make a difference?

I think all of my stability issues could very well be because of this Ram. The thing tests like a champ but then I get random crashes and bootup issues and today a BSOD.

Which RAM are people recommending for overclocking these puppies?

I am using GSKILL HZ which is supposed to be really good RAM and I am having the same problems you do. I was blend test stable with the F3 bios however when I went to F4 I just cannot get the orthos blend test to be stable yet my system runs stable when gaming for hours. I am really picky though so I really want to get my memory stable again at 4,4,4,12 which is what it is rated for at 800mhz. I am about to just call it quits and go back to F3. I personally think the F4 bios screws with some memory stuff for better quality memory yet helps those with lower quality memory.

QFT. Memory errors and unstability with the 2x1 kit I had as well. Still waiting for replacements from OCZ... better fix it.

What was wierd with mine, was the memory would pass memtest for ever, and sp2004 blend test, but large fft would fail right away. I am a happy camper now though. Now I will start going over 400 fsb to see what this setup will do.

My OCZ 2x1gb is working fine now. I set the timings to 4,5,4,15 at 2.2v. When I tried both at stock speeds it would not boot so I took out 1 stick and it booted up but then I set the fsb to 401mhz. Shut down and put the other stick back in and it booted right up right away. I just have a problem getting any higher than 425mhz as I when I try to set the memory to 5,5,5,15 it will not boot up properly or not boot at all. I am currently running at 412mhz 4,5,4,15 with my E6400 at 3.3ghz with both sticks in and no problems at all. This is with the Rev.1 memory.

I have the exact same problem with my OCZ plat DDR2-800 sticks. I can dual small FFT all day long, but blend test fails immediately.

Same problems here with mine. I think OCZ needs to make things right.
    OCZ? Listening?
We all spent hard-earned cash on these things. Thinking about getting some Corsair like I was going to get originally before I read about the HUGE rebates on the OCZ that never came. I will not be buying OCZ RAM anymore. I had a bad experience with the gold PC4000 on my old A64 box too.

    OCZ? You out there?

Yes we are listening, but to find every post, on every forum where someone is having issues is near impossible.

We have an official support forum: http://www.bleedinedge.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=45
If you are having issues.....that is where you should be.

You guys should know by now that we don't leave anyone hanging, if you have a problem....make a post

Prime can fail for lots of reasons....drive strength, voltage, Async Latency, etc etc. None of which can be controlled on some of these boards...Prime is not the end all for stability.

    Ryder, thanks for showin' up!
I called tech support and they are doing an RMA for me - I also got my rebate thing figured out too - they'll be sending it soon.

I must say OCZ's tech support staff are VERY pleasant to work with and helped me immediately with no "on-holds." Hope fully the new RAM will work as well as your customer support staff. Truly some nice folks.

I have tried all different timings, speeds, SPD, voltages etc. on 2 very different motherboards. I think I just got a bad set or something.

Neither mobo would even make it into Windows @ 311 FSB or above with 4-5-4-15 @ any voltage. And and anything over that requires "SPD"/AUTO. Orthos and memtest86 fail at almost all speeds and timings if I let them run long enough. Ususally on the first go at memtest "6".

You tried using 1 stick too? I had the same problem as I couldn't boot at stock speeds as 1 of my sticks didn't like the lower memory timimgs. So I set them to 4,5,4,15@2.2v. Also it wouldn't boot at stock speeds with both memory sticks, so I took 1 stick out and set it to run at 401mhz which my E6400 would be able to do. Restarted and shutdown then put the other stick in and it booted up right away. I can also do a cold boot with both memory sticks in too.

I did not try using only one stick. I guess I should have. Hopefully the new stuff will be better.
