    Some P5B OC'ing on LN2

Did some testing on my new P5B mobo today, with my X6800 installed. Cooling was LN2. The mobo booted as high as 5,3 GHZ, but due to massive hardware death tonight, I did't get to do runs that high. I booted straight up at a little above 4,8 and with no tweaks at all i got this..

The bummer part of the evening was that both my G.skill modules decided to die on me, as well as my 40GB Samsung bench drive.
    Kinda sucs..
But after all, I do not agree to this board being sluggish... 10,7 with no optimizations at all, could easy be 10,4 with tweaks..
The run was not even real time!

So @ 5,2-5,3 this mobo should be well under 10 sek...
So, if there could be a version of setfsb or clockgen that supported P5B now.. things would be swell..
I did acutally try both with settings for the Gigabyte 965 mobo, but that was a definitive nogo..
    Cool things in progress...

Nice job. The board is not sluggish in 1M. But you may be disappointed with 32M results. Sorry to hear about your RAM.

    Thanks to all you guys...
The hdd i don't give a flying **** about... But my memory i will really miss. Now i have to bench on a pair of fatbody modules, that tends to work every other time i boot up...really frustrating...

    Great job!! 4840MHz by P5B..

But, death of the MEM and HDD was very regrettable.
    What happened to them?....

I guess i got a little sloppy. The memory could have died from two reasons.. overvoltage or static. My guess would be static in this case..When you are in a hurry to change things, principles and routines are ofte ignored.. and this is the first time i have killed a pair of modules from being sloppy...
The hdd started getting CRC errors, and went from working to totally useless in about 30 sec. Reinstall didn't work.. no chance of formatting the drive...
But also that has taken some beating in its time...

My own foult on the mem, but it still sucks.. but i appreciate the concern!!

    Oh...

Still, it is necessary to always with carefully.
Does it be when static electricity is generated easily over there?

Now we have humid season, about the static without worry here.
But,cautions are much necessary in winter.

    Anyway, sorry an expensive memory,etc....

    All the best!!

    Best regards. OMEGA

yeah i lost a memory slot in my ic7 due to static, and even that sucks, just a bad feeling you know.

    very nice results though.

edit - how many volts on the ram?

    P5B DLX or Vanilla?

Anyways you can try this version of setfsb: http://www.lurboy.se/setfsb_p5bdlx.zip

No luck for me with it on Vanilla.

Hi ! nice oc there !

I played with some ln2 too and the mobo locks @ -128C, I managed to keep it above it and run some nice oc on some cpus.

I would *very much* like to get a mod for that temp reading like for the badaxe, somthing that would let me control the temp read or even just keep it still @ whatever.

    *Can somone help ?*

BTW: I got very close to 5ghz @ 1.7v (bios) real 1.62v with x6800 es, i got valid too.
