ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe doing SLI ?

    Heya,

ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe has no official support for SLI, but from what I hear it should be a relatively simple driver-level hack to make SLI work for it.

But, has anyone actually done it yet, and confirmed that ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe actually works with SLI? How much hassle are we talking about? What drawbacks are there to not having the official support on this platform?

No drawbacks whatsoever ... remember SLi is something that is 100% software, as long as there are enough PCIe lanes to fill 2 slots ... (e.g. 16 lanes, which makes 2 slots at 8speed)

And the only drawback is that you can't have the newest beta forceware driver, the most recent driver you can use is in the 8th gen (8x.xx)...

But just hold on, in a couple of weeks Nvidia and Intel will hopefully announce SLi for intel chipsets

I'll eat my shorts when AMD/ATI can come out with something that can counter an C2DX8000 with QuadSLI 7950GX2 on a Intel 975X chipset board when official Forceware drivers come through.

    Hmmm...

ok, so all you need is an unlocked driver then. I guess they will be blocking out this combo from working as default in newer revisions.

But hacked drivers aren't hard to get hold of, so I assuem it wont be a problem at all.

    Thanks for the reassurances =)

im glad someone has created hacked drivers , since for a lot of people SLI is more appealing than cf, as the nForce chips aren't amazing overclockers , trouble is, i still don't like the idea of spending all that money on gfx cards that aren't officially supported tho

I really hope nVidia and Intel will let us have SLI on 975X CF based motherboards soon.

For those of you running SLI on ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe:

Since there's no SLI bridge with the Motherboard, do you run without it or did you have a spare?
Are you able to bye a SLI bridge fitting the ASUS motherboard somewhere in Europa, skandinavia or best of all, Denmark?

You can get the bridge in the form of a ribbon cable off of a well known auction site (use 'sli bridge' in search bar)

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...DME:L:RTQ:UK:1

According to the seller it's 80 mm long, so I guess that it will fit on the P5W-DH Deluxe?

This SLI cable looks pretty flexible, and should work with a variety of boards with slighty different distances between PCI-E slots. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
