Tforce6100 AM2 and a X2 3800+ OC on air

Gee my brother just got his Conroe 6600 using a bad axe M/B . He thought about the AMD 3800X2 . But I said the 6600 was A little more $$ but more future proof . He has it running at 6800 speed. Man he is a happy camper. I am glad you like your AMD X2 it seems like a nice low power processor. Though it really can't compete with Conroe's . My man concern with the X2's is when R600 releases from ATI they just won't have the gaming speed of a O/C 6300 Conroe. Hay somebody has to buy the outdated CPU'S . I think you bought the perfect system for you. Your young this should prove to be a good learning lesson for you.

If biostar fixes this bios. I won't upgrade the mobo. i just want better features because once I find the mobo I like I'll have it for the next 3 years. Sorry to say this but intel mobos are not future proof. You want 4 cores forget it. Needs a new chipset means new mobo. AM2 right now... 65nm, Rev G, Rev H, K8L, 45nm, 4 cores, AM3 forwards compattible. Yeah no more swapping a mobo out for me just to do a cpu upgrade. lol

Conroe is nice now but it can not compete with that kind of upgradeability. I used a E6700 at a store they demoed. Only 10% difference I felt at best from mine. In the real world sadly I couldn't tell the difference. BTW why is conroe in MY OC topic? This is the AMD area... I can wait for power. All I need is AMD. I aready have enough as it is. But when I pick up a K8L in 6 months from now. I'll be more then happy. Wow ppl who have AM2 can get all the way upto K10 cpus in 2008.

Conroe isn't future proof at all. Its only a fact. Show me a mobo that will support a quadro and Duo2 please. Then something 6 months after that. lol Besides ATi's and Nvideas features on their chipsets are way better then what intel could ever show me. I went with AM2 to be future proof and to have the features I like from them. I didn't get it to beat conroe or to perform like one. Thats all it has going for it is its performance. Not everybody is going to just jump for something with a minor difference in performance. Conroe isn't god. Even it has limits. Maybe if it had 100% performance difference then AMD's but its smaller then its cracked upto be.

I couldn't even tell the bloody difference. Conroe won't last 6 months. Just wait until quadro comes out. Ppl with intels be trading in their mobos and conroes for one of those. Its silly you have to get a new 200 buck mobo just to upgrade a cpu to another cpu line. Thats hularious. AM2 supports like the next 4 cpu lines for the next 3 or more years. If I want to upgrade it won't cost me more then 150 bucks. You need 400 or 600 bucks for just a new cpu and mobo. If quadros really will be cheap. More around 1000 bucks. Its the mobo changeing thats my only problem. For once intel please just make a mobo on the same socket that will support cpus for atleast 3 years not 6 months.

Its like you need to upgrade for every cpu line. Same socket, P4 90nm to 65nm = new mobo, to Pentium D 800 = new mobo, PD 900 = new mobo, conroe = new mobo, quadro = new mobo. Shell I continue? If it wasn't enough with the poor FSB support and crap chipsets. Conroe is the only thing intel ever did right for the past 4 years. And they still can't get it right with mobo issues. I won't swap my mobo every 6 months just cus something better comes out. But atleast my mobo can support real futureness and 2 generations with 6 or so cpu lines for the next 3 years. Saying conroe is future proof is like a joke because of its mobo limitations for the next cpu line. lol Lets just see how future proof conroe is when 65nm cpus come out and K8L... then 4 cores, then 45nm's then K10 and so forth. But looky I still have the SAME mobo. Isn't that real furture proof ness. Its upgradeability.

A 10% boost over AMD isn't that exciting even if it was 30% I'd still go AMD. Conroe will be out classed soon. K8L may not be faster maybe it will blow its socks off. Thats not the reason its the features that make the experionce better then the performance alone. Chipsets, mobo livespan, upgradeability, and so forth. And intel just doesn't do it for me anymore. At one time I use to be all for intel. I like both but I'd never go intel again. The difference really isn't worth it. You'd be paying 2x more for just the mobo from intel anyways. AMD has much better over all prices. I saved atleast 200 bucks by going with AMD. Besides I just got a 1000 buck cpu for 150 bucks so I'm not complaining. Besides the mobo holding me back. Its not the CPU thats at any limit yet. Damn BIOS. >_> Somebody tryed a DFI board on this cpu. Got to like 3.2ghz or more with it. And 350HTT. Same CPU. I can't even get past 280 half the time.

But I did afew times to 3ghz. This bios deff sucks. Has a damn wall or something. Its almost like the 210HTT wall in the early bios.
