Ran dry ice today finally. What a mess. Here's what happened.
Booted 3ghz, 3.1 locks. YAY COLD BUG! So I run SP2004 and start clocking. 3.4ghz at 1.7v not bad. 3.45 locked so I head into BIOS to set 1.75v. I shovled more ice into the pot and as I pushed it down the system shut off. Instead of being logical and realizing that I had bent the board to far, I tore it all apart. No condensation.
Bios was reading 44C at this point (wtf?)
Put nail polish over the SMDs on the CPU thinking they got a bit damp. Remount and now I can't get over 3.1ghz or so. Then 2.9ghz started freezing in windows. I tore it down thinking bad contact. Nope! Best contact I've seen in months
Bios was reading 17C on that mount
Remount a third time with no nail polish. Got to 3.3ghz but couldn't get over it no matter what ram speed, timings, cpu voltage, or if I took 2 sticks of ram out. Eventually prime started crashing after 3d/pi and I was running out of ice
Bios was reading 23c this mount

Yeah I insulated with paper towelIt worked great!
Yeah I blow at taking pictures
I have a small video clip but it's a 9mb avi and I'm to lazy to convert it using windows movie maker or whatever. I installed that ATI AVIVIO thing to do it with my X1900XT but I have no idea how to use it.
I have CPUZ validation of this clock but of course it's going to screw me and say "File not authorized"
Only run I bothered to save a picture of. I had 28.375 sec with the ram at 3-3-3-5 2t. Quite unimpressive. Depressing actually. I couldn't run bandwidth either as sandra 05 and 07 didn't want to open for me. 8m clocked in at 4m 54s. Didn't want to waste any more time with 32m.
ddr1100mhz WILL NOT run at -72c
1T WILL NOT run at -72c
AM2 is slow.
I have a 3800+ x2 coming tomorrow but I'm just going to test it, swap it into my daily rig, and sell my 939 stuff. Time to wait for conroe. If a single core cold bugs at 250 htt then a 10x multi dual core isn't going anywhere.

AVIVO is awesome! It's a shame the rest of ATIs driver is so bad. I'll save my ATI rant for another day.
