Thread: 7900gtx @590SLI

    7900gtx @590SLI

Early numbers looking decent with 590SLI ref board. Trying to work out the bugs still, but it shows some promise even with lower fsb limit as you can clock the ram pretty high keeping within certain parameters to make up for some of that loss in fsb power. Should have some full ln2 runs soon. Around 325fsb is limit for now with this mobo, haven't tried too hard to get over that as it seems to be a bit of wall there. I also benched a reworked version of the p5n32SLI with similar results, so def a chipset limitation for now. Chipset mod should help it some.

Pushing the ram here for 8m/3d stability only. Not using any tweaks, just basic xp install...C3 runs pretty good on this board:

    full Ln2 is next..

    impressive initial results!

I have to ask though, what is your current relationship with nvidia? I am very curious.

The P5N32SLI was the nforce4 right?

thanks alot and I cant wait to see some LN2 results

I believe so vap. Final board should be out soon. It's nothing special really, just a beta testing opportunity or two through third party mobo vendors. Working out bugs on pre-release stuff sucks, believe me .

nice to see the result of the nvidia board thanks.

shamino doesnt seem to concerned by the lower fsb and says that the cpu mhz is the factor that matters for 3d bench.

I bet he would not be saying that if he has an E6600 or E6700 though ! If you have fully unlocked multi's up or down the nvidia looks good, but if you cannot afford the 6800 then you have a problem. I'd like to go with 590 as well as it looks pretty fast and you know SLi will work with it, but do I want to pay the extra money ..no. As I normally go good air cooled the E6600 or E6700 would be good for what I could realistically achieve ..say 3.4-3.9Ghz but with 9 and 10 multipliers and 325Mhz ...hmmm. I hope nvidia tweaks or next generation chipset will be better or else it is Intel 975 and modded drivers as per Big Sam. Will they work for G8x series or will by then nvidia have full SLi licence with Intel ? Lots of unknowns. I am not buying anything yet until I see the lay of the land.

Nice results k|ngP|n so far, looking forward to LN2.

Looking good Vince Glad to see you got the 590 board working decently. Better cooling and vmods should help you get around that FSB wall. I know my 590 AMD board runs HOT and the stock cooling was trash, The Intel 590 seems similar...

nice warming up there vince!! i know what it's like to push this board
LN2 runs should get u quite a fair bit higher than what i can do, especially with ur card clocks, it'll drop a heavy bomb on the orb. I get around 1010 core with the current pcie we have on it, i dunno if its just my coolin though, maybe ur card goes higher with the pcie.

Btw that desktop looks mysteriousily familiar bro

heh...don't know what your talking about . As for c19 ref, we'll see Sham...gonna have to work for this one. I'm amazed by what youve done with it already, REALLY. Right now I cant even boot up under -30c, so trying to work around that atm. I know this chip can do 4.9 or more for 3d , so if it can't on this mobo something's up.
BTW--I added the chilled water/air on the card 06. It was a little over 13k.
