HELP! DS3 E6300 Overheating!

I cant seem to figure this out. Ive reseated the Stock HSF about 4-5 times and its around 40-55C Idle. Whats the deal with my mobo?

replaced the stock tim with AS5 ?

What monitering program are you using? Does the heatsink feel hot to the touch?

You can't reseat the heatsink without putting new TIM (thermal paste on) .. I would get some Artic Silver 5 (as Supertim0r suggested) and try that. Put some one the cpu and spread it around with an old credit card.

Easytune, What should i be using? not even.

if you're using a ds3 and are seeing that temp in bios, its incorrect - check temps in windows.

nah, easytune lists my temp correctly but in bios, ds3 lists it about 20c over what it really is (with my temp celeron)

if you're using the heatsink that came with the cpu and easytune is showing you those temps, its not mounted correctly or the thermal grease that came with it is gone. You will need to remount with as5 or another thermal grease asap - I'd turn off the computer if it's actually idling at 55c.

im using AS5 already. How should the Stock HSF be mounted? Ive redid it 4-5 times

When i get some cash ill pick that up. But whats the deal with my heatsink though? i see alot of people are able to overclock it on a stock hsf but mine overheats at stock.

it's most likely not mounted correctly.

My DS3 with stok heatsink and stok termic past i have 35/36c :

55c, while it's higher then most overclockers are comfortable with, it's perfectly safe your proc is not 'overheating'. Thermal speec of C2D is 61.5c. If your serious about overclocking, then as a few other folks suggested, invest in a aftermarket cooler.

As for mounting the stock Intel HSF, ensure all 4 push pins are fully inserted through the mounting holes.

probablem is it goes up and down. i just reseated it and it went to 27c then went back to 40 c when i rebooted. wtf is up with my board?
