    17" LCD - 1900x1200

well, im using a 17 inch LCD screen that my dad got from Cebit 2004 (maybe 2005? cant remember)

anyway, Ive just now noticed that it can get up to a 1600x1200 resolution (with an OB video card (with my old FX5900XT it can get a bit higher)

my friends told me that its impossible, and that such technology doesnt exixs.

    how can it be?!

    edit:
    here it is!

-Blaze-: That shouldn't be possible, maybe your card is just lying to you and saying it can change resolutions when it can't.

Jimmyz: The resolution isn't a misprint, the Samsung 244t has a maximum and native resolution of 1920x1200. The misprint is that it is a 17" screen, the Samsung 244t is 24", hence the 24 in the name.

I don't know what to say, it doesn't look like any of the models benq makes for 17", usually LCD monitors have a set maximum/native resolution so they run at "highest" quality. You have stumbled upon a magical monitor.

i dont think it is. i mean look at the screen, for a 17" monitor to display that the text would be so small it would be completely unreadable.

plus for it to be truely doing that the pixel pitch would be amazingly small.

it doesnt look near 1900x1200 in a lcd screen is totally possible look at laptops but the icons should be microscopic at that resolution

i highly doubt its 1900x1200 or even 1600x1200 sorry

A lot of gaming laptops hit that resolution with ease. Don't see why it wouldn't merge over to stand alone LCDs.

Newegg, pricewatch, pricegrabber, and ebay bring up zero results when I search for newq.

definetley possible. Just rarely used for desktops. They have things like that for medical imaging machines and other critical tasks... I think. Laptops can do it. For desktops it's rarely used though...

the reason standlone lcds dont do it is because of production costs...its clearly possible as seen on almost every decent laptop lcd in existance

oh and btw if the screenshot he took when displaying was 1600*1200 then that is what is being displayed....

Don't see how it's impossible. My 15" laptop is doing 1680x1050 and everything is perfectly clear.

    dude, you dont know crap.

just because the screen shot is at a certain resolution does not mean its correctly displaying that resolution. if you think thats true then maybe you should buy my lappy off me, look at the resolution it can do!

It certainly doesn't help that the companies own website doesn't claim to have any 17" LCD products capable of that resolution.

It's probably rendering 1920x1200 and cramming it into 1280x1024. If you're camera is any decent...can you please take a picture really close (on Macro mode) of your screen from straight on (preferably over the START button)? I think the aspect ratio is getting mucked from those first two shots, but I can't tell

    that's not 1900 x 1200, more like 1280 x 1024. 1900 x 1200 is almost like widescreen format.

    download this wallpaper @ 1900 x 1200

    http://www.bosswheels.co.uk/img/down.../1900x1200.jpg

then in Display Properties > Desktop, set the position "Center". If you cant read the words on the wallpaper then your're not on that resolution.
