    Kentsfield X6700 air-cooling tests

Intial tests with Kentsfield and air-cooling

    CPU Kentsfield X6700
    M/B: Asus P5B Deluxe
    BIOS: 0403
    Memory: Corsair 6400C3
    Cooling: Tuniq Tower 120
    OS: Windows Server 2003 Enterprise

    Cinebench @ 3.6GHz

    Quad-Prime at 3.3GHz and 1.4V

Just a quick note about running quad-Prime. If you think dual-cores get hot running Prime, then you ain't seen nothing yet. With default VCore, Kentsfield temps will go into the 60's while running small FFT's. I know 30 mins. of Prime won't satisfy some people, but I was in a hurry. Max TCase temp is 100C. Let's hope I never get close to that.

Contrary to popular rumor, Kentsfield can handle FSB at 400 or higher.

I was sitting in my backyard patio the other day when there was loud thunder and the CPU fell out of my sky and right into my lap.

Just be careful running four instances of Prime simultaneously. It will really heat up the processor.

I don't think it's ten times better. But for pure rendering power, Kentsfield is the way to go, until AMD counters.
