ok we've got 1. Somebody give us more. Maybe i'll keep my e6600 when it arrives...
Current 24/7 settings
Delidded L628B e6400@ 3.6ghz 1.38v
3.9ghz 1.56v dual prime, 4ghz dual 32m pi stable on water and P5B Deluxe
Patriot 667 LLK @ 970 mhz 4-4-4-4 2.3v
x1900xt 690/780
nice! now I just need to get my 6400 @ 4ghz when I get it
any E6600 , E6700?? cuz thats what most people will get??
i wanna see some E6600, 6700 on air/water ... i hope they can reach 3.8GHz for 24/7 at least dual pi 32m stable ...
i really dont need it to be dual prime stable... im doing 920D 4.1GHz its single prime stable and dual prime stable for 8 mnin (lol?!) i never experience any problem in games or encoding ...

the chips arent going to be the issue Aqua its the boards.. the baords cant handle the FSB. unless you mod the crap out of them.

what about ds3 with 6300/6400? seems fine

yes i believe E6400 , 6300 + 965 board is the best combo
best performance for the buck. Also, yeah GA-965 prolly unleash the full potential of the allendales
some guy hit 500fsb with E6300, so thats 3.5GHz, but i dont think u wanna do that 24/7, so prolly 3.4 , 3.3GHz 24/7 for E6300 + GA-965. Thats really good cuz for $400 more the E6700 + more expansive board might not be able to hit 4GHz.

as its been shown the lower multi's give higher fsb on the DS3, i havent seen the P5W DH do the same.
now this is NOT the chips fault.
as i have shown, coolaler, and OPB i believe did also, all you have to do is lower the multi on an ES chip to 8x 7x and 6x and the FSB goes way higher.
this again isnt the fualt of the cpu its something wierd with the board.
using the same 4mb L2 cache cpu and simply dropping the multi.. how cna that raise the fSB ?
possibly a mhz/ghz limit since the cpu is running a high ghz freq? and the baord cant handle it, thus dropping the multi allows the fsb to go higher since now the cpu ghz is lower ?
maybe but that sure seems impossible.
i dont know maybe we will never know.
but even the x6800 has issues above 400.
the answer isnt in the cpu.. its the boards.
there is a very consistant issue with all the boards, and thats 400+ mhz fsb at the default multiplier of 9x or above.
why ? not sure its not the cpu though.. its the board.
i'd love to find even a hint of the issue, but i have yet to see anyone find one other than modding the baord and shoving an insane amount of voltage into the NB chipset. this is not right, this shouldnt need to happen. and 98% of the people who buy these boards arent going to do it.

Jeff chen ? lol
basically he is my good friend,
he told me that is only good for CPUZ-verfy, it's not even stable @ 3850 mhz 1.6v for super pi 8m![]()
Well 1.6 volts on stock cooling isn't a good combination, but 1M at 4 Ghz on that combination is pretty impressive.Originally Posted by Onepagebook

Let's keep this on topic folks. The thread is about the overclockability of the retail Conroe chips, not about motherboards.
