What PSU + RAM to buy for:(on budget)

    I just ordered :

    https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produ...uctCode=247078

    https://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/Produ...ctCode=80721-8
    AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 3800+ Socket AM2 (89W)

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130033
    eVGA 256-P2-N584-AR Geforce 7900GT KO 256MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16
(That I will most likely SLI in the near future)

The ram I have is not quite so new 184 pin
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145450
That I don't think is compatible with this board so I am also looking for some budget ram that can run this untill I can upgrade. If anyone has any suggestions.

and was just wondering what power supply should I get with this on around $100 budget

I am not looking to over:banana::banana::banana::banana: this too much as I am a complete noob just would like to get it to maybe 2.6 if possible.

    Apriciate any help

For psu you cant go wrong with this just a little over $100 with rebate. Best psu I've had. Never used a rebate with newegg, so don't know how good they are.

I brought the same same setup but all from newegg.com and the ram I brought

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16820227030R

it's $159.99 and I know I'm taking a chance on it not working. some have gotten it working while most have not

I will find out friday if it works together.

    Thanks for the replyes guys.

I think I'll go for that power suply. Ill grab it from zipzoomfly.com, $129 free shipping and a 25 rebate.

As for the ram I don't know if to take the chance with the OCZ it looks good and all but from what I have been reading it's got some big compatability issues with the M2N so still undecided about ram.

I was going to upgrade little by little week by week but my current pc just decided to die on me and I just decided to go all the way with the upgrade. Might be able to salvage some of the parts from it but the mobo is fried.

I'm trying to get a safe setup as this one died in the middle of finishing my thesis.

Any imput on safe ram for this mobo will help loads

The power supply you've chosen is outdated, and there is nothing wrong with getting 1gb of ram.

Here is one of the newr RoHs Compliant high efficiency power supplies from Silverstone...on sale on Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817256001 ... that should also fit your budget.

    1GB of Corsair DDR2-800 Ram:

    PSU

    So this one

    SILVERSTONE SST-ST50EF ATX12V 500W Power Supply 90 - 264V
--(can it handle SLI ok, and minor overclock on cpu???)--

    over this one ??

    OCZ PowerStream OCZ520ADJSLI ATX, BTX, EPS12V 520W Power Supply 100~120Vac / 200~240Vac 10/6a

I need to make the purchase today in orther to recieve them before next week is out

With the silverstone PSU I can put some more money into getting maybe 2gb of ram. Any ideas

The Powerstream is a bad idea also because the nex gen Power streams...the Gamexstreams from OCZ are out and for $119 at Monarch, so the 520w is out of the question.

The SST50EF should handle an oced 6600 and an oced 7900GT just fine, and with 2gbs of ram it should work faster as well

Which 2gb did you have in mind btw ?

I was looking at this one but I have never used a samsung drive mostly maxtor

Wow...where did you find that LOL That's an amazing price and is guaranteed to do DDR2 800 easy. Plus Corsair's comptability is better than OCZ's for AM2 motherboards. (Corsaie > PQI everyday)

If you buy the ram above along with the OCZ 600w Gamexstream (if its in your budget) then you've got a great combo on your hands.

The ST50EF is a great psu too if you're looking not to explode your budget

I post tested the ram and it works fine so I'll report when I do the motherboard swap in my other system.
