Abit is back in the game

Looks like Abit may be coming back strong. They have been active lately and gearing up to be a front contender again for the enthusiast market.

Marketing has been restarted and you will see an Abit banner go up on the front page as well as new products hit these forums first.

I will lay the AB9-Pro on you guys in a few days.

Just an early nudge reminding you guys we will have another Conroe board entry in the mix very soon.

Sure it may be a (relatively) cheap board, but how do you explain that atrocious layout?

I am keeping my mind open however as I'm planning on getting a case that inverts the motherboard anyways (<s>P180</s> or Lian Li V series) but for most users...???

Can't wait for the AB9 review FUGGER. I hope they can pull back their old overclocking greatness and with it their lost reputation, do you know if they will make a max series board for conroe anytime soon? I don't ever remember a bad board from the max series .

Incidently I was re-evaluating the Abit mobo's today for conroe, i will not go for the pro, but have noted down the non pro version on my specs sheet, heres hoping for a good review.

" Abit has stated that the layout was created in part to provide better quality power signals to the various areas of the motherboard. "

Abit did do this, the boardd can do 4.7+ Ghz on the PD805 which means it has a very strong VRM and power regulation.

Oops, yeah, that's my bad on the P180.

Hey, if they can show that overclocking on this board can make up for the layout quirks, I think I can deal with it.

The AB9 Pro isn't that great overclocking board based on the Anandtech review. Max fsb was 380MHz if I remember correct, altough the power regulation seems to be quite good cos many have been able to clock their Pentium D's quite high with that mobo.

+475fsb and 150$ pricetag, would underline that statement for sure.

Anandtech hasn't been doing real hot overclocking any of the boards they have tested so far and they've overclocked on several of them. Maybe its just the early BIOS versions they are using or their Conroe samples suck or they just don't know much about what they are doing because there have been plenty of guys here getting a lot higher results on the same boards.

I would also like to see a review of AW9D, cause AB9Pro just don't have it.
However, in my opinion, it's a bit early to jump on the Abit train right now, i'll wait for the next gen. Unless of course AW9D is an ace in their sleeve...

It's good to have them back though.

It's always good to have more manufacturers jumping into the enthusiast fray. Steve over at ocforums, mods the ABIT Forums, so he's been keeping folks posted about ABIT's recent improvement of financial health.

Yes the AW9D is looking quite interesting. Wonder when we will see that one?

Abit AB9 Pro for $148.32 over at eWiz right now. Just ordered mine. I think this will be a better overclocking board then the Gigabyte DS3 and they are in the same price range. It will tide me over till something better comes out anyways.

I really hope that ABIT can come up with a nice stable clocking board. If its true that ABIT promised anandtech that they are developing clocking board with 450+FSB than that would be one hell of a board and surely will win a lot of fans...
