Can you do me a biiiiiig favor?

See how high you can get it using 9x (or if you can estimate that'd work too)? EDIT nevermind found out you were using Dice not Phase...
Well what do you THINK you could go for for 24/7 operation?

I'm just interested because I already have phase, but won't pay more than what an E6600 costs. I know the board's FSB is going to be a rough thing to get over... but a retail E6600 shouldn't WANT to go much higher than 4, 4.2 for 24/7 on phase, right?

    i get the feeling there's more in there...needs a V-Core mod ... but running 1.7v+ through a 65nm Core scares me

you need to cool the chipset (put dry ice on it and you'll get almost unlimited fsb) to go for higher fsb that is the big secret of conroe.

it might sound like a stupid idea, but...

what if i put my phase on the P5W CHIPSET, and used high end air for the CPU? do you think itd get the same/better than phase on CPU and stock chipset solution?

I don't think you'd be able to clamp it down well. But I've not even seen the board.

Now that's just stupid, use some quality W/C for chipset and the SS on CPU.
The northbridge can get pretty hot but not like the CPU.

NB can get VERY hot indeed. and water doesn't have any effect on improving yields on NB. Only sub zero does to some extent.

There is a solution to that. Not too long ago, I saw a phase cooler with 3 seperate heads. One fore CPU, one for chipset, one for GPU. Now granted, it probably got maybe -15 to -20C temps at best, it's still subzero and it would still yield very good results.

heh, well, first time using phase... thats why i want to get a second opinion before i proceed to ruin my board (especially in vain) with improper mounting/insulation
