took off the lid, IHS gone but cpu gone too?

finally took off my ihs. but when i put it back into the socket, i can't get it to boot on. the dfi mobo has 3 red lights. seems liek the cpu nis not being detected. so i tried to put the ihs back on without gluing it and put thermal paste and heatsink on top. still doesn't boot up.
    is it dead?
any other way i can try before i confirm it's dead?
i don't see any cracks on the core at all.
i reseated the heatsink twice before i tried putting the ihs in between to bootup

found out the problem. i can't seem to boot with 2 rams sticks in the slot. if i only boot with one. it works perfectly fine. but i want to be able to run both my sticks. HELP

it looks like you crushed the core man

There doesn't need to be a crack for the core to break. I cracked my 2700 a while back, nothing physical except crazy temps and it died the next day.

    noktekniq,

Ive had this problem a few times, what i found it to be was the contact between the block and the Core. Too much presure will stop it booting, its definatly the chip id say not anythink else.

Keep the IHS off, when ou screw down the block go very easy and try booting. If no luck tighten a little more. My Opty on my TDX block wouldnt boot if it was a tad too tight.

Oh i also had a 3800X2 that i swear was dead from too much presure. I left it for ages on the side, then one day thought ill try it. And bam she was alive again.lol

    Good luck

changed the ram back from yellow to orange. no boot.
    reseted bios. no boot.
boot each ram separately to test if one of them is dead. both works individually.
but still can't boot with both rams in slot.

I got this bug every time, when i reset CMOS with my Redlines. It doesnt matter what slots. Installed generic ram, Cmos reload, and its only way for me to get post. So try to boot with one RAM stick, enter BIOS, input all settings that worked before, put other stick, and try to boot.

Did the computer run fine with both sticks of ram in before you popped the IHS? If so, why or how would popping the IHS make running both ram sticks together not work anymore?

That doesn't make sense, I must be missing something

same pb with my dfi, when i get off the cpu to put another one, no boot with the two stick of ram.
    dfi nf4 ultra-d bios 702-1 with my uccc's and 702-2 with my bh5's

I must take off all the elements off the mobo (gpu, cpu, ram, hdd, psu, battery...) and wait few minutes then put back the battery, then psu, then cpu ram and gpu, if it boots, I connect the other elements, if not, I retry.

but if there is a solution to fix that definitively, that would be nice

so your saying is to clear the cmos with everything off of the board. nothing connected. wait for a few mins and it will work? right now i'm doing the long cmos reset which means that i will be letting the jumper stay on the cmos reset mode for about 5hr+ to see if this will solve the problem
