    Asus P5W DH @500fsb 32M TT BT chipset cooler

    I dunno if somebody already done it but to gain higher fsb i build a Thermaltake Big Typhoon cpu cooler on the chipset

    Asus P5WD DH Deluxe v modded
    Intel E6600 es Mach II cooled
    Thermaltake Big Typhoon chipset cooler
    Ram sink's on the mosfets
    corsair xms2 8000UL
    WD Raptor 36gb hdd

    cpu temp -21c (doesn't measure further)
    chipset temp 30c at bios
    chipset vmch 2.04 v

    original cooler was given problems at high load, the TTBT is doing a lot better

    the pic of the big typhoon on it

    1M multi 7

    1M multi 8

    8M@500fsb

    32M@500fsb

    if somebody got more extreme cooling on their chipset feel free to post.

    Nice work, Rol-Co. That's the biggest chipset cooler I've ever seen.

    I noticed you were running memory at 5-5-5 with 4:3 ratio. Can you get the timings any tighter?

    Watercooling anyone? We might be seeing where better NB cooling may yeild to better results.

    Watercooling the chipset generally yields about 6-7 more MHz on FSB with P5W DH. Not huge. More importantly, Rol-Co is using modded board with Vmch at more than 2v. Unmodded board only goes up to 1.65v.

    How much did the BT increase your max FSB vs the stocker?

    2.Xv instead of 1.65v also increases max FSB how much?

    I'm going to have a similar setup, except I want the system to be 24/7 useable and I do not want to use mega voltage.

    I guess if you are going to do the vmch mod for higher FSB, this Big Typhoon, water cooling, or something better than the stock passive heatsink may do the trick to prolong the life of this board.

    Looks like I'll be cooling my NB with a TEC or something

    @sierra
    thank's ......isn't he nice it fit's on the milimeter
    i'm running @5-5-5 becouse the memory can't go that high on the 4:3 divider, verry strange imo
    1:1 i've tried and stops @ 482 , both 2.65v
    so something weird is going on on the asus with divider 4:3

    Maybe gonna try a waterchiller too, got one here (-10) with swiftech chipset cooler

    @vengance_01
    seen phase chipset cooling somewhere in the topics

    @andrewzorn
    the tt bt increases the fsb from 504 max load 1m til 520 1m vs stock cooling, most increase is @ load, the ttbt is a good cooler for heavy load, it amaized me too
    2.04 increases fsb from 454 (1.65v) til 504 @ stock cooler and 520@ ttbt

    this is not for 24/7 , becouse the use of a pci-e graphic's card isn't possible annymore above 1.90 v
    1.75-1.78 (max 480fsb) is ok for 24/7 use with good cooling.

    Is that limit because of the boards design or because of the bios?

    Maximum chipset voltage in BIOS is 1.65v. Everyone who's done 500+ FSB has done Vmch mod. Hehe, now Rol-Co is going to remind me to do mod on my board.

    @Rol-Co
    With 4:3 ratio, I was able to run 3-2-2 timings (Corsair 8000UL) with FSB at 465. Maybe I'll try loosening timings to see what happens.

    Absolute_0 was trying watercooling the chipset, but found it quite difficult, because of the crappy clip mounting. The waterblock had trouble keeping a good mount.

    Thats why you want to instead locate the two closest holes to the NB in the mobo that are not for cpu mounting, and use them for mounting.

    the closest mounting holes are on the edge of the board, more there isn't
    only the two clips

    but with 2 hooks it is possible

    the ttbt is standing on 4 pieces of sealstring prevent from falling over.

    @sierra
    got same thing here, 3-2-2 timings is possible @450-470 fsb but not faster in pi as 4-3-3, losen the timings this time to 5-5-5 to be sure i got no probs with the memory

    or you keep the voltage below 1.85v and pop in a pci-e

    this is probably gonna be viewed as a puss question, but do any conroe boards have fsb to ram ratios taht are less than 1:1...?
