Everyone loves a winner but I'm sure there has to be some losers. Anyone care to post if they got a poor clocking ES?
Remember, you didn't make it. You just happened to own it for a short time.![]()

I feel better already knowing that there are no poor clocking ES chips out there. I now feel better about the one I bought. If I can get this GA-965-DS3mb figured out life will be great.![]()
Funny I had no trouble with a 326 on it but now I can't seem to change anything but memory timings and still have the thing post.![]()
At least 25% overclock on air/water for 24/7 system is what 99.9% of chips will reach, I am pretty sure![]()
...
lets see what the mainstream, non ES versions can do from a 24/7 gamer point of view, 3d stable is v important for a lot of peeps
Mine isn't exactly mainstream, but it is 3.733 ghz 24/7 stable. Not even S&M could put it down.
Oh, and getting 3100 cpu 3dmark06s rock.
That's close to what Kiwi said, about 27.5% oc.Originally Posted by redpriest

I saw you had the leading bid on an ebay auction before it got pulled. Were you able to complete that deal? I regret not getting the guy's contact info.Originally Posted by redpriest

3606 Mhz with a e6700 b1-5 24/7, I am happy with that. I have booted into windows at 3850 Mhz, but 3606 Mhz seems to be the best balance for day to day operations. Thats approx 35.5%, not to bad........

if your talking retail... no one knows except those few who have an X6800 and they arent too far off.. but they arent clocking as high.
this is the first time ever, out of all the ES chips ive had that ihave had an eS that was just a killer. and these are.. their are beasts.
ES chips have never been known for insane overclocking.

Are they going to start binning CPUs soon if they aren't binning them now? I don't plan on buying until early August at the earliest...
Also will steppings/overclocks likely get BETTER (refined processing) or WORSE (like the Opterons, minus a few cases like the 0550 and 0610 and 0615)?
Whether retail will be better or worse would also depend on where they are made. I seen pics of ES' being made in Malaysia, the retails will be made on different 65nm plants, like Malay, maybe Costa Rica and Ireland and wherever-i-dont-know. Would be fun to know where the few existing X6800 retail chips were made, if its not malaysia we could be getting closer to an explanation to why some of them has overclocked less than the ES ones. Just a thought but wud be nice to know anyway =)

ok, so the core could be from anywhere.. =(

I'm seeing 3780mhz out of an X6800 ES for 24/7 use. That's in an enclosed case with 1.50v and basic water cooling. One caveat is that I like lots of stability "overhead" and silent running for 24/7 settings. It will bench at 3.9 at 1.57v for hours, but it will throw a random error at 4ghz regardless of voltage. My Mach II would probably get me quite a bit farther, but my benching days are over.
Blazing fast anyways....just not a star. If you look you can find mediocre ES clocks. No one wants to post about them though![]()

since andreayang's retail X6800 could "ONLY" do 3.8GHz on air
so like this im guessing:
X6800: 3.8GHz
E6700: 3.4, 3.5Ghz
E6600: 3.1 , 3.2GHz
all on tower 120
and board doesnt matter since fsb is like 360mhz and with BIOS F2 965DS3 can reach that. I think i saw someone reached E6600 at 395fsb or 3.58 Ghz with 965 DS3 i think (thats why i bought it hehe )
FYI: 500Mhz has been reached with E6300 at 3.5GHz with DS3 (another reason i bought it. although it was ES 5 chip , so ... )
E6600 @ 3.6
IN9 32x MAX
EVGA 8800Ultra
750W
Umm I don't think there will be that much difference between X6800 and E6600 on the same cooling. Maybe 100-150mhz more for the higher binned, but not like 600 mhz.Originally Posted by theteamaqua

keep in mind... 4 months ago we were HOPING for 3.5 Ghz on single phase.
Based on previous Intel binnings (and there is NO reason why they would change now), there will be a noticable difference between retail X6800s and the lower grades....600MHz though? Doubtful, but definitely possible as it's usually similar to stock delta.
Step 5 is irrefutably a golden stepping through and through....the worst of which match every step6 we've seen. Will there be great step6s? Oh yeah.
A note about step5s....they were reviewer samples, and strictly (well, a few exceptions) reviewer samples. Intel made them as good as possible and did NO binning....they just made them all as good as possible, tested for functionality and packaged them. Hence why the best we've seen have been E6600s (which are ~10x as common as E6700 and X6800 Step5s).

So is it possible the trouble in Israel could cause delays or was that statement from a reseller pure bunk?Originally Posted by brentpresley
